this one's more popular because it basically sucks and "float on" is catchy as hell. This Message Edited On 06.10.06

:smash: Go listen to Crapic! At The Disco.
This is so good. The song-writing is great. Brock's voice is awesome.

I agree, mostly. However, the rest of the songs are great too.

I've heard this album as well as the 'Build Nothing Out of Something' and 'Everywhere And His Nastly Parlour Tricks' EPs. Also I've heard some tracks from 'The Fruit That Ate Itself', 'Sad Sappy Sucker' and 'The Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About'. After hearing 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News' I still loved Modest Mouse and indeed my love for them grew. While yes it is true that some tracks from their earlier work are better (or simply different) I prefer this one. Not because of its popularity but simply because the others can get quite boring after a few listens... though this does have a few tracks I'm not fond of. So, I guess it can work both ways. A shorter album may have worked better: the length of the album means some of the tracks don't fit together - and others seemingly unnecessary entirely. I enjoyed the album on a whole: it's a very good album.
I'd give it 4.4/5.

I presume you were saying it in jest but if not it's a little harsh, isn't it? Just because 3-4 tracks on the album aren't to your (or my) taste doesn't necessarily make it a bad album. It's not a bad album in my opinion but to each his own.

I just skimmed this and the only tracks that stuck out were World At Large (liked that a while ago) and Float On. I'll try and give it a full listen today or tomorrow.
