highly over-produced vocals at the end of "Poloroids of Polar Bears".. his voice was better before it

As far as Post Hardcore goes this is a pretty enjoyable album. The vocals took a while to grow on me, but once they did i found myself enjoying this album even more.Favorite tracks are probably Adelleda,A Dagger Through The Heart Of Los Angeles, and Pulmonary Archery. At times the lyrics become a little too whiney for my taste, but its a minor complaint. Not bad for a 1st album but i believe they hit their peak with Crisis.
What was up with the random growls on the The Kennedy Curse? i enjoyed them, but they seemed very misplaced.

it's a good album. worth listening to. 3.5, *maybe* on a good day, 4. I really enjoyed their live shows back when they were only moderately popular and i could get right up close. wound up jumping on stage with them and half the audience and flailing around. decent review, by the way. don't write a book though. maybe stick to music.

This album is very underrated, and it is MUCH better than anything the band has released since. Pulmonary Archery is the best song on here.

Not a bad album, but i'd take Watch Out! over this any day. Review was a bit average too.

Band gets better with every release. This is their worst album, but it's still quite good.

even if they ARE emocore or whatever - i can't deny that this is an awesome band. every album they put out is different in so many ways. everyone i've encountered who likes AOF says this is their fav album...and while i personally like their other albums a bit more than this, i'll respect this one as well. haha, this is actually where i got started with aggressive rock music. before i started listening to these guys seven years ago, i hated anything with screaming in it...sort of afraid of anything with anger coming out in growls. then one glorious evening i got owned by Pulmonary Archery and i was hooked. to me that one song contains some supreme musical greatness, in its structure, riffs and melodies that most other songs just can't capture. though i love that song, i wouldn't say the album shares its qualities as a whole. the raw sounds on this record are what turn me off a little, i guess thats what many people like about it, its just not my thing. another downfall is that they do sound a little whiney in places. i think if you look at all their works together - i would say these guys are talented musicians.

alexisonfire is just a good band, until old crows/young cardinals...that just was not them...george's vocals on that are just annoying and horrible, a few decent songs on it, Watch Out is their best word

Another hardcore debut album where I don’t understand the hype from fans. Sure, there are smatterings of potential here and there, but there is also a lot of filler. George’s screams are at times terrible and off-putting, while the production is way too raw to significantly showcase Dallas’ melodic vocals. The major selling point here is in fact the dual guitars, which often stand out in the longer tracks. Recommended Tracks: 44 Caliber Love Letter & Little Girls Pointing and Laughing.
