If “Merriweather Post Pavilion” proved anything about Animal Collective, it’s that the band has come a long ways from 10-minute, one guitar chord drones and
My personal favorite album at the moment is Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've vanished...
Maybe the songs here are not as good as your "My Girls" or "Fireworks", however, "Fall Be Kind" is their most consistent release. An EP nonetheless.
This looks awkward, and the songs on here all rank amongst their best, in my opinion.

I like AC more as pop muscians and not avant-garde artists. Then again, I'm not a big fan of ambient music and other styles were nothing happens for half the record.

kitsch - This is logical I suppose. It's like saying "Whomever didn't like the Beatles while they were playing in run-down clubs in Hamburg, shouldn't be able to listen to "Abbey Road". Right.

Sorry strikey, it seems as if my backards language may have stumped you. What I meant by that was, "GG Allin contributes to the latest Animal Collective release, turning such classic tracks, such as "Suck My Ass It Smells", into shimmery balls of pop goodness!"
Thanks for pointing out my error.

i didnt neg you lol
i just think that you not understanding ambien/atmospheric passages:
a) doesn't make ambient/atmospheric passages a negative
b) puts you at a severe disadvantage when writing about the band that produced feels and sung tongs

Oh, no Strikey, I was referring to kitsch. Not like I mind, I just think it's absurd (apparently I didn't realize that subjective opinions are tossed out of all logical consideration when you write reviews)
I'm really just being as brutally honest as I can be; they're boring. Look, Brian Eno can make some beautiful music, but I'm not going to sit through his entire album if he expects me to actually concentrate and listen to the music. Now, I find Animal Collective's passages to be a bit more interesting than just a few bleeps and bloops from a synth, but still, I would rather listen to "Grass", "Leaf House", or "Essplode"; where Animal Collective show off their genius as pop musicians. Then again, I was raised to appreciate intelligent pop, which I suppose is why I have a bias. Which doesn't explain why I love Aphex Twin's first album so much.
Anyways, to cut this ramble down to one idea, I find the atmospheric and "ambient" qualities of this album a lot easier to digest, plus, they contain some fantastic melodies to boot.

I would just rather not read comments by people who's only criticism is "I disagree". I don't mind if you happen to comment on anything else, but I'll usually respond, either explaining why I wrote what I wrote or thanking somebody for the crticism.
I don't know, I guess that's butthurt. I think it would be more appropriate to call me that if I responded with a flurry of curse words while at the same time claiming that you just don't understand my genius. Then again, kids these days and their "y so srs" attitude. Bah. A pox on them.
Native Americans that is.
