Worth all the hype it's getting? Axe to Fall is great, sure, but some tracks get old. Jane Doe, on the other hand...

No mention of Dead Beat...my favourite song!

After some lackluster performances (which include the title track, “Axe To Fall,” which is a grave, forgettable disappointment)

I don't understand this. This is their classic style of metalcore and you think it's lackluster? How did you enjoy the rest of the album? hahahahaha

“Worms Will Feed/Rats Will Feast.” It's far too slow, has no direction whatsoever, and is a tedious, strenuous chore to sit through.

That's why this will never be perfect. Reminds me too much of the crap they put out on earlier releases.

Great review though. I enjoyed your descriptions for the most part and you have a smooth writing style.

@prophet178 & ecelctic:
:bow:

@erasedcitizen:
it wasn't supposed to come off as that way, it was more of "for future reviewing reference" sort of thing.

@AliW1993, Hollier, Wizard, and (ugh) bringonthebreakdown:
I'd much rather hear Concubine-type metalcore with grind eccentricites. Unfortunately, Effigies and Losing Battle put an average track in its place even further, and show that they can still create their signature sound and have it be interesting, something that Axe To Fall failed at.

@lucazade22:
Dead Beat's great... but I couldn't really think of an effective way to describe it without sounding redundant.

@lelle:
like axe to fall, worms will feed/rats will feast, and damages, right? Right.

anyway I prefer Jane Doe over this, this simply lacks the raw emotion of Janie

Good review, but Axe To Fall is one of my favourite tracks from this. I do agree with Worms being kinda boring though. It starts great, then never goes anywhere special.

@ homewrecker:
exactly, also I wish there was some sort of transition into it as well. The only cool part is the futuristic instrumental thing that segues into "the worms will find a way, the rats will find a way"
