It's pretty much the essential Genesis work together with The Lamb. Prefer this, can't listen to a lengthy rock opera over and over again.

From my early teens I grew up with Genesis and most of the 70's prog monsters as well.

That's why I keep them a special place in my heart.

Gabriel era: Selling = Foxtrot > The Lamb > Trespass > Nursery Cryme

Post Gabriel era (noteworthy): A Trick Of The Tail > Wind And Wuthering > Duke

Oh and for those who like 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway'

You abslolutely need to get ''Genesis Archive Vol 1 (1967-1975)

It features the whole story of Rael live, and it's sooo goood!

I Know What I Like tends to get annoying and Epping Forest is a bit too much, but it's all fantastic progginess apart from that.

Epping Forest is gorgeous, but would have been probably more attractive instrumental (sorry Peter). The only problem is both the instrumental and vocal parts had hard times to share the rooms, imo. So it can sound a bit strained here or there. Song is so uplifting to play on drums, and to sing along to.

I have the deluxe edition of this album which includes an interview with the band; they themselves said it was just too overwhelming. And I fully agree with what you say Jethro.

Yeah overwhelming is the word ^. I already had in my possession a thick book on the whole band's history, very well written and generously filled with fantastic pics. Book was obviously written by journalist Armando Gallo who followed the entire career of the band.

That document would have been more than helpful for your Genesis discog to come, Nag. :D

I lost the book in the hands of a person or another, long ago...I probably was too high (Hah!) to actually remember what or when. What a loss, it hurts when I think of it.
