IMO Carnival Ride is the one closest to klap's 2.5 rating as it is monotonous, but I'd still give CR a 3.

Some Hearts had many highlights, though I think it had just as much filler as this CD. The message songs were better on Some Hearts. I dislike some of the message songs on Play On not because I'm cold, but because they simplify the problems. Play On's advantages over Some Hearts come with the maturation of Carrie's voice and a better mix of ballads and slow songs.
