I havent heard Breathless for age, but I doubt it'd be better than Nude. It has Echoes, the Sleeper and Rainbow's End at least.

Echoes is amazing, so is The Sleeper. and all of the songs are pretty decent, except down on the farm and you make me smile, which are awful...

I'd have to relisten to Nude before giving a final verdict.

Captured is so good. Drum production is so 80's

This has some very good cuts. Agreed hard with Jethro on Docks/Beached. I'm also quite fond of Changing Places, even though it's not very rocking, it's really relaxing, great atmosphere too.

Sounds flat to me. A few inspired moments.Like Drafetd,Docks and Lies (highlight for me). Captured reminded me so much of Vangelis. Check out this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6iz1hUucGo

I don't say it's a copy paste, just that at parts they sound alike.

this could be such a superb album if they had dropped some of the more ambien-orientated tracks and filled it with killer stuff such as city life or lies

^i think otherwise. The tracks with vocals are my least favourite on this one. City Life and Please Come Home are kinda queef tbh

City Life and Please Come Home are kinda queef tbh[2]

Especially City Life. What a disastrous opener. It doesn't fit at all in the album.

I hate The Homecoming too. Another track that seems lost in the album. It's an unnecessary wink to Nimrodel from Mirage.

I totally agree Jethro.

Also Lies isn't bad but it really sounds like Animals-The Wall era Floyd.

you guys are off track, the lengthier vocal songs are the best

though i think that the last track is the best because it's so gorgeous

City Life - 2.5/5

Nude -

Drafted - 5/5

Docks - 5/5

Beached - 5/5

Landscapes - 3.5/5

Changing Places - 4/5

Pomp & Circumstance - 3.5/5

Please Come Home - 2/5

Reflections - 3/5

Captured - 4/5

The Homecoming - 2/5

Lies - 4/5

The Last Farewell - The Birthday Cake/Nude's Return 4.5/5

I agree with you about Lies, RunOfTheMill, but I manage to forget that similarity since it doesn't last for too long. Latimer quickly returns to his own style.

Also I had City Life at a 2/5, but I find there are good segments into it. It's still too poppy for my taste and for the album, and its absence of a riding cymbal or a hi-hat doesn't help.

I think the problem on this album is the slow and excessive middle and first segments of the second lp side

Even if city life is cheese, it's still catchy as hell ;)

Agreed. Ambient-oriented tracks are all stuck together. And there are too many of them, it breaks the flow of the album.

As for City Life, I still think it doesn't have its place in the album. Without that ''synthetic'' drum sounding, it would be better. With no drum at all it would have been still more appropriated.
