Yeah. 'The Gypsy' is also great.

Love most of the songs on here to be honest. This album's kinda underrated imo.

One of the things I love about Coverdale is that his style was so similar to Gillan's that he fit in perfectly with the band.

Once again this is an example of an album being overshadowed by its predecessor, and in this case, 'Burn' was certainly one of DP's better and more memorable albums. This isn't to say that 'Stormbringer' isn't a good album, because it is, despite Coverdale's vocals being slightly off-putting at times. Most of the songs on this album seem to resemble Whitesnake's earlier material, and it's no surprise that Deep Purple and Whitesnake songs often get mistaken for one another. Despite the monotonous 'Holy man' and too-funky-for-its-own-good 'Love don't mean a thing', 'Stormbringer' is another example of Deep Purple delivering the goods without Gillain.

Excellent album. The mix of Hughes' and Coverdale's vocals on here is pretty much perfect.

Indeed. This might be the single Purple album I've listened to the most.

Really? I thought you'd prefer "In Rock" or something similar.

If that's the case then I'm surprised to see you've only rated it 3.5.

Album's pretty underrated imo.

I consider it a high 3.5 but not a 4 and since we don't have the choice of giving a 3.8 for example, I'll leave it as it is. But it's only a 0.5, it's not that big of a deal ;)

The mere fact that I've listened to this one for so many times might be the reason I can't give it a 4 though.

The Mk. III and IV albums might be a bit of a departure from the sound of the Mk. II line-up but the fact is they did this funky rock style really well. Hughes and Coverdale did well in helping the band to change up their sound a bit (by incorporating soul and funk influences), which was necessary at the time in order to keep the band moving forward.

Agreed. The band stagnated after Machine Head and Mk. III gave us Burn which is a big improvement over Who Do We Think We Are!. It also made Coverdale and Hughes known to a wider audience which is a huge plus.
