Not sure what those lines in Piano mean?
It's painting the picture of him holding on to the heartache while trying to hold onto what made their relationship special in the first place (previous track was them getting back together after her initially cheating).
We were supposed to be the ones who set the air afire...
Then the pain comes out when he's drunk b/c no matter how much beauty he finds, the contrast will consume him in the most primal sense.
