What do you think is metalcore? Unearth is hardly metalcore, defiently NWOAHM.
Again, listen to Botch or Converge.

^^ I like neither of them. Metalcore goes from crap like As I Lay Dying, Every Time I Die, and basically any band with the name 'die' or 'dying' in it to some actual good stuff like Killswitch Engage and Chimaira.

This is so close to being generic metal it's not even funny. They just happen to use alot of those breakdowns. I like them personally, but some people bitch about them.
This is a good album, but the review was only so so.

I do admit, 'The Great Dividers' was a pretty good track.

Great album. some of the best guitarwork ive heard, and i prefer the vocals to some of the other bands of this genre, like, say... hatebreed or black dahlia murder. or earlier dillinger escape plan.

Unearth are not reli melodic death metal. They are a fiercely technical Metalcore band put simply. A lot of people dismiss metalcore. The Dillinger Escape Plan are more along the lines of some form of grindcore/ mathematical metal. Chaos. And The Black Dahlia Murder are melodic death metal. All great bands nonetheless, but Unearth are the most accesible. Thanx for all comments on this review.

Not really a fan. Pretty dull stuff. Also, most of the people in here arguing about what is and isnt' metalcore are wrong when they say what isn't and right when they say what is. It's a fairly all encompassing genre from As I lay Dying to Poison the Well to Converge. This Message Edited On 11.08.05

i bought this album on the strength of "zombie autopilot" which i heard on a sampler, and although that is the best on the album, it is really good, really desolate and moody, and its unusual for a metalcore band to be able to establish a mood, other than anger.
this one really does have the ominousness (is that a word?) of an oncoming storm.

The Great Dividers was better than Zombie Autiopilot.

Elite metalcore..... great list but one thought i just struggle to see how poison the well gets over bands like trvium as personally (just my opnion) poison the well are the up there with great metalcore.
Zombie is just indescribile espesically after seein it performed live. Also Black hearts is a top song along with the first 3.
but Unearth is defiantly out of the "same ol' metalcore and up with the recognised and great

The only thing that makes Unearth metalcore is the fact that they have loads of breakdowns.

^^^I dunno. When I heard this I thought almost everything about it made it seem metalcore.

One of my favourite albums at the moment. Some awsome headbanging riffs on here. One of the best bands at Download 2005 IMO. Can't wait until they come to the UK again.
This Lying World at the end is awsome. Duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh "BREAKDOWN!".
