All in all, I love it. After the first listen, a few songs kind of fell flat for me (born to quit, watered down, meant to die) but what with everyone saying it's a grower that could very easily change. This album is quite a pleasant surprise.

Oh also the production on this album is fucking immaculate. The bass sounds like Jesus.

Fantastic review Trey. I love it when you (hopefully deservedly) come out of nowhere & shatter everyone's low expectations with a positive review.

good review. album is a grower, and the lyrics are very well written

I dislike how this only has a 3.3 so far. I would guess that they are getting low ratings just because they're them.

Besides the awful Artwork's artwork, the music itself is quite good. Very well written review, man. Congrats. This record is really a grower though.
At first I hated, now I think it's actually great.

Fantastic review Trey. I love it when you (hopefully deservedly) come out of nowhere & shatter everyone's low expectations with a positive review. Ha ha, I don't set out to shatter people's expectations one way or the other. If it sucks than I say so, if it doesn't than I say it doesn't... just look at my Insomnium and Amorphis reviews. Besides, people seem to be agreeing that this is definitely a grower.
Thanks to everyone else that appreciated the review.

band is meh, so album is probably just the same. Though your review has convinced me to give the Used one last chance. So good job Willie.

Since you're a big fan of metalcore, it might just be that you don't like this kind of music. If that's the case, you'll like this even less because it is less aggressive than their past three albums (overall).

While metalcore is my preferred genre, I do dabble in other genres every now and then.(I gave Axxis new album a 4 which is power metal) So I'm still going to give this a test, but don't worry i'm not going to come back carving this album apart if I don't like it.

I use to love this band but the last few releases have been just flat and weak (aside from a few killer songs)...and then that acoustic set they streamed was horrible...I am streaming this CD now... REALLY, REALLY hoping you guys are right and this is a great album. I am not convinced yet!

No worries man. I always make sure to give every CD a few rotations before I make a final decision. Shit there are some CDs out there that I hated for a year and then all of a sudden loved. I have high hopes based on your review though. Great job.

Great review. Pretty spot on. So far, this is the sleeper album of 2009 for me because I had VERY low expectations. I felt like they would go continuously go poppier, but they definitely proved me wrong. And the obvious effort to grow was a great refresher. For once, it seemed like a band put more work into a heavier album rather than a softer one. A little return to their roots while growing. And yea, TOTALLY can't get Blood on My Hands outta my head.
Touche The Used. Touche.
