Couple mistakes with apostrophes (who's, Beggars's) and grammar, but this was a satisfying read. AND we agree on something for once! Never was really into Thrice, but I jumped in with the Alchemy Indexes. This provides some cool songs ("All the World is Mad" is my favorite at the moment), but like many users here, I'm yet to see Thrice as the greatest band in the world.

Good review. I'm iffy about checking this out."

Album is OK so far. Definitely a let down for me. It opens up pretty strong but kind of loses itself half way through. "Doublespeak" may be my least favorite Thrice song ever. There is just something missing from it. One thing about this album, Dustin and Co. wrote some outstanding melodies. Check the chorus on "In Exile" and "Wood & Wire".

awesome album. you bring up many points, but i disagree with you on certain points.
i'd argue that this is their best yet.

I don't think it's their best. I personally would reserve that for "Vheissu".

to be honest, vhiessu hasnt had tht "click" yet with me. i've listened to probably a good 6-7 times, but i still dont feel much of a connection with it. its an incredible piece of work, worthy at least of a 4, but i just dont care much for it.
i shud probably give it another go sometime soon though...

Yeah I purchased it the day it came out. I liked it but never really, really gave it a chance. After 4 years, I finally realized just how great it really is.

i really can't see how you could like this more than vheissu. but i guess thats just me. this is lacking so much and feels quite watered down too. it just has this whole average feel to it
also who ever was talking about it a page back they are quite well known in aus.

I was disappointed that I didn't learn any new words from a Nick Greer review.
And 'Doublespeak' is my favorite song on the album. What's that?!

i copied my post because it is full of truth regarding this cd and band
this album is sooooo boring, just like the second half of the alchemy index.
i give up on this band, they're awful, a mediocre post-hardcore band, every album is so, unoriginal. there's always something they do to ruin their CDs, like that drum sound in The Illusion of Progress...
sputnikmusic's absolute ASSraping of this band and their back catalogue is so freaking amusing, because this is worse than their other albums, by far.

yeah man The Illusion of Progress good album
