are you kidding there's a lot of reasons track length can be a negative
ya maybe but not in modest mouse' earlier work minus truckers atlas. it just seems stupid that the song lengths can be seen as a drawback when in the main they are fantastic songs

I have to admit that I also prefer Modest Mouse's more recent, more mainstream releases. This may be partly because I haven't given their older albums enough listens to sink in (I got Good News first) but but I find these albums slightly daunting to listen to because of the lengths of the albums rather than the track lengths.

Great review. I haven't heard that much MM though, and only The Whale Song off this, which was great.

if you haven't checked them out by now, why would you start with b-sides
my thoughts exactly.

I definitely found this to be a nice treat. Have been waiting for a release of some of these songs on CD for a while really.

I've only heard a little more than half of this, but sound fucking spectacular... Perpetual Motion Machine is just so goddamn good... and Guilty Cocker Spaniels deserves some love.
