Great review, and a great CD, this is much more intense and more epic and intricate then The Impossiblity Of Reason.

This album is fantastic; one of the more brutal yet listenable bands out there who actually produce the goods. Whoever said they are metalcore; wrong dude...if so, there aren't many breakdowns in a breakdown-driven genre - Rob Arnold delivers some fantastic solos also!

Would you rather them be metalcore, or have a bunch or idiots call them nu-metal?

I like it alot, but sometimes it feels like a chore to listen to more than a few songs, maybe cause of the length

this album reminds me of the color black for some reason

Wow, everyone seems to like this one better than IOR. I will be picking up(then I will give a rating and comment). I did hear though that Kevin Tally is a shitty drummer compared to Andols. Can someone enlighten me with a solid opinion?

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know, (I did know he was in Dying Fetus, never heard him though). I hate how The Dehumanizing Process DVD introduced him but never gave us a taste! Does ne1 else have an opinion on who's better?
EDIT: Alright, I just got the CD, it's pretty good, not as good as IOR imo but still kick ass. Oh, and I answered my own question on who the better drummer is: Kevin, hands down. He's pretty technical and quick. This Message Edited On 06.08.06

Does anyone else really enjoy Army Of Me from the Freddy VS Jason soundtrack? Oh, and does anyone know who's drumming on there, is it Andols or Kevin Tally?

My opinion on this has changed alot. Most of the songs are atleast 5 minutes and they get annoying cause they arent that good. The Impossibility of Reason is muuuuuuuuuuuch better!

My Cons-

-I still prefer Andols. Yeah, Kevin's much faster but there're so many parts where I'm just like "NO! STRAIGHT UP DOUBLE-BASS DOESN'T WORK THERE!"

-Chris doesn't seem as present as on previous works.

-Way too little variation, way too long. Everything You Love starts off awesome, but by the time it gets to the chorus, I'm already skipping to the next track.

-Vocals need work. Little to no variation. Too raspy. Singing would help.

-Yes, solos are more technical, but also repetitive. In most of the songs, the solo sections are just that: Sections to put a solo in. The Impossibility of Reason sounded much more organic and the leads actually lead the song and added a lot more flavor.

-Not really a con but I would've loved an instrumental, at least to see how it would work w/ Kevin on the kit.

Nothing Remains is an awesome song, and it had me very eager to pick up the album once it was released. I have to say I was dissapointed with the album. I found it repetitive and boring; that element that made IOR such a great album isn't present on this one (Andols maybe). The lyrics seem kinda dumb also. Everyone seems to like this album, maybe I'm the exception, but I just couldn't get into it. However, now that Andols is back behind the kit I can't help but anticipate another release.

I'm surprised this isn't rated higher than Impossibility of Reason, Chimaira really came into their own with this release. Where once they were a band you could easily confuse with any bunch of whiny 19 year-old nu-metal nerds, now they've got a sound that's distinctly their own and pretty much unmatchable by anyone else.

They're not quite the greatest around, but they're getting more and more unique as time goes by.

I need this album. I don't care about anything previous to it though, Nu-Metal sucks serious nutties.
