Should this really in metal? The album is really post-rock though the band's lineage suggests otherwise.

I completely agree, they belong in Post Rock. I mean, look at all the P-R bands--they have sections as heavy or heavier than Red Sparowes, while Red Sparowes share their ambience and soaring melodic passages.
I've been saying this for a while but they're ignoring me. ![](smile.gif)

I gave it another spin its pretty good, the bass work is pretty wicked. its just that they are prettymuch a supergroup, and I just expected my mind to be blown.

I didn't know they were a supergroup until after I had really started to enjoy this album. And man, I love Isis.

This is one of the best releases this year for sure.
I was happy to discover this unknown band (in france at least) and didnt expect so much people to know it.
Your review is good and although it might not be describing the music itself you need to keep it abstract and let people discover whats in, it just cant be technicaly described.
Its funny how without lyrics they can still tell a story just with song titles :>
I think post-metal is a within genre of post-rock just like metal is for rock. Theres so few post-metal bands that i think it could be included in the post-rock section.

I came back from their montreal concert 10 hours ago and it was kinda blasting everything there. They are able to keep their epic sound live with a well used 3 guitar work. The use of background chaos images is also nice with the music, too bad it doesnt really follow its evolutions i think. A not very innovative but massively powerful concert.

The CD is great, but they do have an awesome sound and are excellent live. I saw them at the middle east a few days ago and a fellow hydra head band, daughters, were there and were pretty insane. The lead singer was shitfaced and did some really grotesque stuff...luckily Red Sparowes made up for it though.

A friend lent me the this, aware of my love for Pelican and Mogwai. It did not fail to impress.
Need to pick up Red Heart. From what I've streamed, I'm certainly immersed.

This is one of the albums that are nice to listen, but nothing of them stays in you after it stops.

Great album, great band, the secret track at the end is kinda pointless though
