@Waior
I'm done. Adam is flipping out. I'll leave to other people to decide.
@Mark
You should have in mind that these reviews were all written more than five years ago. I can
completely understand someone comparing this with Thursday back then. But I'm sure you do too,
you're just being a prick.
|
| |
Other people have decided, you are just too into your own opinion to listen.
|
| |
I'm sorry but I've just never heard a Thursday song that sounded like overtly manufactured, horrifically generic pop-punk...unless there is another Thursday that I'm unaware of...

Obviously this don't come near anything Thursday did. But 2003 was a different time, and people compared any band with dueling vocals with Thursday. It's naive pop punk, but it's good at that.
|
| |
It doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's well
written.
It's well written, but it's wrong on every level.
Make your mind up.
Also, I'm hardly the type of person to come out in a fit of arrogance, but this is hardly a rant. Review has comparisons, instrumental descriptions, and examples.

You have it rated as a 5.

@strikey
Classics are subjective. It relates to a time you went through, it relates to an age of your life.
I'm not a professional reviewer, I come here to share how some bands and records affected my life.
It's naive pop punk better than any pop punk that came out this year - read All Time Low, Set Your
Goals and all the shitty pop punk bands here - and it is a lot of hell better than Bowling
For Soup.
I was trying to be polite when I said it's well written. Pardon me, but it's a poorly written rant.
- Nothing personal.
Seriously though, it saddens me disagreeing with you, Adam. I always thought of you like a guy who
wouldn't trash things for the sake of trashing, but I guess it's human nature.

Who's Alex?
You rec'd me this. I listened to it. If it was good I would have written a positive review for it. It wasn't good. Please provide some constructive criticism if you're going to neg this review because it still seems very much to me you just don't agree about the album and can't stand somebody else disliking it. Like I said; this review is hardly any different to anything else I've written in terms of structure or style, the tone is perhaps a little more brash but that's all.

As ReturnToTheRock stated, it comes out as a rant. It's way to much. I'd understand an average
rating or even an awful one if you had state your reasons to it.
It just sounds as bitter rant. And poorly written. I have the right to think whatever I think about
your review, just like you have the right to think anything about the record. I would get you rating
this with a lower rating if it was well written, but it isn't.
And now you're starting to look like someone that it's obsessed with people not negging your
reviews. Ask the mods, ALL of your reviews I have read I have marked as well written. You
have failed at this one, at least to me. No biggie, a lot of people think that your review is well
written, so what's the deal?
|
| |
Perhaps you should have identified the most colossally shitty tracks, providing examples to support your points. However, I really enjoyed the overall tone and substance of this review. I'll help you return your approval to its former glory.
|
| |
It isn't because of the opinion. It's just because the review is just... wrong.
are you fucking stupid?

@Ruins I have explained what I really meant on my previous posts. I was trying to be nice with him and now I'm get flamed for that. It's okay.
|
| |
- it wasn't me who first took issue with your neg
- stop citing ReturnToRock as agreeing with you, because he didn't
- we happen also to have agreed on everything you've pos'd me on to some degree
- yah i'm protective of my approval rating, because i spend time on my reviews and am quite into applying for contrib next cycle.
i state my reasons perfectly well. what do you think the 3 paragraphs of substance are, otherwise? everything's lifted from elsewhere, the melodies are weak and the songwriting techniques are all hackneyed and poorly executed. that's why this album is bad. that's what the review says, with examples and blah.
ffs why am i writing such long responses to you? i should learn to ignore this type of person.

Yeah you spend a lot of time writing, and so this band have spend a lot of time working their ass
off to put out a good record.
Again, nothing groundbreaking, nothing life changing... just a good pop punk record. If you spend a
lot of time writing, you should be able to accept criticism. If you can't take it, you're not ready
for this at all.
And it's fine by me if you're defending your ground here, but that doesn't change my viewing that
your review is crap. This time. And for the record, I don't like everything you have
reviewed, I think your review about Florence and the Machine is beautifully written, but the record
per se isn't my cup of tea.
And about ignoring... ignore criticism. This is really mature of you. Hit the ignore button, baby.
...nobody puts baby in the corner, ain't it?
|
| |
We have ignore buttons?! Oh wait poo...
|
| |
You're still ignoring my main point and making points filled with platitudes. I love getting criticism, because otherwise it means I have to work out what I'm doing wrong or right by myself, which isn't usually easy. But you're not providing me with any sort of criticism, you're just repeating the line, "IT'S A RANT" over and over. You're just a fanboy who's irritated that somebody he personally rec'd an album to didn't like it at all. You've taken practically personal offense at that fact and labeled this as a rant because it suits your delusions. Aaaaaaand I'm done arguing. I don't even care about the neg. You're too much work.
|
| |
One unnecessary neg here and there doesn't really matter in the long run. I've written plenty of negative reviews that have been negged by so called fanboys; as long as the material you write continues to be of good quality (which all of yours I've read has) you should be fine.
|
| |
haha thanks. agreed, i'm just bored (as i'm likely to be all summer) and yeaaah. probably just delete this from my itunes now and never worry about it again

Am I the delusional one here? Do you actually want me to review your review?
Are you serious?
You didn't take your time with the songs. If this is the first time I'm reading about the band, I'd
just know that you don't like the record because you think this is generic pop punk. Your rant is
way too much generic. Now cry, since you can't take any criticism. You're a good writer, strikey.
But an arrogant bitch when someone criticizes you.
And just one more thing: haven't you notice how much your reviews comments are mostly to talk about
how well written your reviews are? Especially this one. We know that you're a good writer, Adam. But
it's about the music, not about the words on your review. You can't expect people to like all you
write, and more than that, that people will care. So if you could stop reviewing your review and
asking us to do the same, people could actually talk about the music instead.
