I think it has to do with why he left. He had crippling anxiety which subsequently got worse whenever he needed to play a show. He'd lie in the van for hours talking to no one.

This was the best Howard jones kse album, he finally changed some of his terrible screamo and went for a more mature effort. This and light the torch are his best work
