Good review. Their Ep was good. Wires was okay. I can't even get into this. Has Jag's voice gotten higher? It's a shame, because I was enjoying the first 2 seconds of the preview to These Cannons Can Sink A Ship (or whatever) and when his vocals came in I just turned it off.

After listening to this album I've concluded that jagmin has a whinning female midget stuck in his throat...

Which is a shame cause musically they have alot of potential =x

This album is too experimental for Avirov, he just doesn't get it.

Yeah you're right, it's A Skylit Drive. I shouldn't even suggest they are 'experimental', even as a (failed) joke.

I cannot understand the hate for this band. While Jagmin's voice is absolutely way up in the stratosphere, his clarity and command over his voice is astonishing. I think, rather than it being "whiny, screechy, etc" it's a lot closer to angelic and even at times, epic. Meh, I'm a huge fan of Coheed, Anthony Green era Saosin, Rush, and several other bands with singers that have astronomically high pitched voices, so perhaps that's part of why I like ASL as much as I do.

The one thing I cannot understand is how anyone can call them generic. Like the singing or hate it, ASL does not follow the conventional screamo or even post-hardcore formula, instead favoring a much more powerful vocal oriented approach. I applaud them for it and think they're much better than a lot of you let on.

And again in stark contrast with common opinion, I feel Wires was actually a better album. Don't get me wrong, the instrumentation and song structure on Adelphia is absolutely and unmistakably superior, however Wires features songs with incredibly epic melodies and choruses, "City on the Edge of Forever," the title track, "Knights of the Round," and especially the last track on Wires all come to mind.

To me, Jagmin's vocals are the shining star of the band. While on Adelphia, Jagmin makes better use of vocal ranges that aren't solely almost in outer space, I think the melody and "powerfulness" of the choruses trail behind Wires. Just my thoughts, I'm already certain no one agrees with me, which is fine.

There are a few songs in this album that I skip over on a constant basis because I don't think they sound very good or appear poorly constructed. They do still have a few hard hitting songs on the album which they needed. I'd still put Wires above this one, seeing that I can listen to that cd without skipping any songs.

I am really shocked that so many people disliked this album. Adelphia made me fall in love with this band. I like the "holy" feel to it. I do hope the nest album is more "hardcore"

I've found that Jag is the equivalent to a musical cock-block. My friend was in my car the other day and he played the song "The Children Of Adelphia". At the beginning I was thinking "Ok, this is pretty sick" and then that whiny little transvestite has to start wailing and ruin the damn song. Ugh.

The standards dropped a bit below Wires.. but I will agree with SaosinEngaged - the use of Jag's voice was displayed better in this 3rd release. Some songs on Adelphia could be toned-up and/or left out; but in no way is this album appalling as some of you guys are commenting.

Jag sometimes doesn't even sound human on this album. But he sounds like it live so it isn't totally enhanced. I think the album is underrated and very meaningful.
