Chevelle is a great band, i think they deserve a 4.5/5 as well for both albums, they were emotional, lyrically impacting for some, and very powerful.......Oh n am i the only one who knows that Chevelle is Christian band.......cuz they are a powerhouse in both mainstream and Christian music......lol and yea i think he kinda sounds like Maynard too, not too closely related, but the relation is there

I listened to this CD for about 2 months and got sick of most of it. It's still ok though.

I heard that the christian thing was only something they did to get publicity. If they really are christian though, even better.

Pretty cool cd, got it at best buy when it was like 8 :p

I might have said this in the thread already, but Chevelle are not Christian. Their first CD was released on Squint Entertainment which I believe is a Christian label. I believe this is the only record label they could get a deal with, but they are not a Christian.
|
| |
That doesn't mean they aren't Christian, it just means they aren't making 'Christian' music
Who cares? Either you like it, or you don't. I like the music, regardless of their beliefs
|
| |
I meant Christian music. They most likely are Christian.
|
| |
yeah i think most likely they are christians, i mean look at some of the stuff they sing about. Anywho, chevelle is a pretty good band. I didnt really like point #1 all that much, but this one im satisfied with. Who cares if theyre mainstream, just because a bands mainstream or popular doesnt mean you cant like them, seems to me now days that people tend to just forget about the popular bands and try to find something else, but when that band goes popular, they dont like them any more, sounds kinda stupid doesnt it?

I strongly dislike Chevelle. I find their music and lyrics very repetitve and just bland altogether. I think Send The Pain Below is the worst lyrical song ever created by man. The only thing I like about about this band is the intro riff to Family System. Other then that, they need a serious creativity lesson.
On a lighter note, this was a very in-depth review. Great job.

I knew they are a christian band but it doesnt come out at all in Wonder What's Next. I love Chevelle and I was happy when they got famous, but like y'all said, they got famous for crappy songs, but oh well hopefully people looked into the badn and found out how amazing they are. Awesome review by the way.

Chevelle is a Christain Crossover band... Christians who play secular music, just nothing evil/blasphemous etc...
And it's very obvious that Peet bases his vocal style around Maynard
Chevelle remind me of Muse. Muse = Radiohead ripoffs, Chevelle = Tool ripoffs.
God, modern music needs originality as bad as diversity.
you idiot, they are not tool ripoffs, the only thing that makes them sound like tool are his vocals which employ some aspects of maynards style but he is different, you cant compare the guitar work at all to tool. he is not as good a singer as maynard but he does sound like him at times, if you had heard all their stuff you would know this.

by the way that was an excellent review, one of the best i have seen on here along with the nine inch nails dvd review

I like this CD alot, i know alot of you have stated that you dont think that send the pain below is a good song, personally, i dont think it should have been their second single, but i think you need to have the song on the CD in order for the whole CD to flow. Without it i dont think the CD would be complete. I loved "The Red" when it was released, and that is what made me buy the CD, but after months of overplay i just sorta got sick of it, but again, its a song that if it wasnt on the album, i dont think it would be the same. I really liked family system and wonder whats next, also grab thy hand is an awesome song, overall, out of 10, i think i would give this album a 8.5/10. I am looking forward to the newest CD to be released with the awesome new single Witamin R(leading us along) hopefully this song is not overplayed as much as the red was, but it looks like it is heading in that direction, but for now its an amazing song. And i dont know if anyone has heard the daredevil soundtrack, but they had an awesome song on that album as well, "until your reformed" was the name of it, if you ever get a chance to listen, do, it is a brilliant song.

I personally can't wait for new Chevelle. I have no idea wtf he was thinking..."Vitamin R"? Why not just call it "Leading Us Along"?
I like it though. Actually, I could stand to see this one overplayed as opposed to The Red or STPB.
|
| |
They obviously had some sort of reason for naming it what they did, otherwise they wouldnt have named it that...maybe something that had happened to one of them, or something along the sort.
|
| |
I heard "The Clincher" off the Madden 2005 soundtrack. Sounds great. :thumb:

you dont get what the song is about, dont criticise what you dont understand

You need to chill the fukc out, Chevelle fanboy. Godsmack's guitar work sounds nothing like AIC's, but they are still AIC ripoffs. Why? Because of the VOCALS.
|
| |
Who the fuck cares if the vocals sound the same? Chevelle are obviously very influenced by Tool. Every band incorporates the sound of another, that's what the word influence means. Pete loves what Maynard has done with his emotional vocal style and wants to put that same emotion into Chevelle. And he does it damn well may I add.
