This album is definitely not a step up from ADD because I actually loved some of the songs from ADD. This album is just a mix of something I´ve hear a million times before and nothing really impressed me. I´ve listened to the album a couple times now and there was no song that actually captured my attention and made me want to listen to the whole song. KsE was the band that got me into metal and because of them I learned to appreciate the screaming and growling. This is such a step down from AOJB which was legendary, this one is forgettable. Dissapointed at the least :S

Maby I will learn to appreciate some of the songs when I get over this disappointment but none the less if this was a great album it would make me want to jump up to some of the songs and bang my head against the table. Damn it!

I think I'm alright with "metalcore" dying...

Album makes me appreciate EoH. I will say this a thousand times: NONE of the Howard records should be compared to the Jesse records. Howard just doesn't match his lyrical aggression. The band doesn't match their raw "bedroom" feel. Let it go. There will never be another AOJB.

Eh, can't make my mind up about this. There's some definite attempts at progression, but in other ways it feels like it's missing something.

Kind of a 2 steps forward, one step back job. Enjoyable enough to listen to more than once, but it's not grabbing my attention like TEOH and AOJB.

Nice review.

when i was listening to the first song, the guitar solo came up, but cause the song was so boring, i did not notice it was kse actually playing a solo! so that surprised me so much i went back to listen to the solo. turned out, the solo was just as plain/boring as the song and the rest of the cd.

Really Good review, consise, fair and to the point. I had a feeling this cd would struggle.... I will probably buy it anyway because i love the bands early work, I really thought that ADD had at least a half dozen songs that were all trying to be like the song end of heartache. Very similar to what happened to Incubus after "drive" became a hit, another problem i see in this genre, is that bands seem to be under the gun to have a new cd out ever year, or year and a half. thats obviously going to hurt the material because with their tour schedule, they're writing under the gun year after year. unfortunately, metalcore will never be profitable enough for bands to get on a more relaxed schedule like your Nickelbacks, Tools, Korns, etc... I also think that in KSE's case, Roadrunner is pushing them in this direction hard. the band may never admit it but the more mainstream the label can make the band, the more Money for the label

This record just came out and it's already underappreciated. I'm sure it will grow on most of you. Even your great Jesse Leach praised the new record in one of his bulletins on his Myspace. Go check it out.

Look, the record isn't horrible. Is it as good as End of Heartache or As Daylight Dies? Probably not. But it's different and showcases a different style which they pull off very well. I hope that in the future they take a couple of these new elements and incorporate them with the familiar KsE sound we're all familiar with.

After watching so many interviews with these dudes and how they compose songs, i can't even listen to the music without sighing

of course jesse leach is going to say he likes it, he's not going to openly poo on his friends' new cd. And i agree with Tool4U, I'd like to see them incorporate this with their old style, but most bands that head down roads like this never turn back. although i will admit that i am speculating to the cd's sound right now as i haven't heard all of it yet... but if the review is accurate i have a feeling i know what to expect.

howard has 2 different vocal styles in this album. scream... clean singing... no range in his voice. my biggest problem was that there was really nothing special about this album in particular.

Been a big fan of KSE , even since the original singer. Something about listening to them always feels right. This is far from their best of course, but its a step up from ADD. I really enjoyed this the first time around, and it grows on me still.
