Opeth nicked that from King Crimson, i think. on my version of ITCOTKC it says "an observation by king crimson"
might check this shit out, sounds awesome

Good review.
I like the album. The songs flow into one another nicely, and Everything Unsaid Before is just amazing.

great review. ya, this isn't as good as BIOW, but i just got Distant Cry of Cranes and it pwns.

Slays black cascade without mercy.

Drudkh still retains their identity here resulting in a more enjoyable listen. Wolves went native on black cascade. granted it's great but not as swell as Diadem or even two hunters.

I was expecting something that sounded like Orphaned Land gone black metal, and although this isn't what I ended up hearing, it's a good listen.
I'm so happy you were wrong.
A musical observation. I sort of stole the idea from Opeth's liner notes, in a few of their records they say stuff like 'Still Life is the fourth observation by Opeth'.
I always found this hilarious hahaha.
Just listened to a song off this and I want it now.

yeah not sure where any Orphaned Land expectation came in, but that's most certainly not the case with drudkh
hopefully you'll like this Karl

That interlude you mentioned in "Distant Cries Of Cranes" with the bass guitar is pretty damn awesome. Definitely this band's best since Blood In Our Wells. Great read.

Good review, but I gotta say I was disappointed with this album. It has a lot to do with the high standards myself and most Drudkh fans hold them to. They released outstanding album after outstanding album and this one has a few too many lame riffs and really lacks the atmosphere and punch of its predecessors.

Damn, where the hell have I been with these guys? Are these guys that underrated?

I can understand where you're coming from, except that I really enjoyed the album.

Yeah, sort of, they're not that obscure in terms of black metal though.

i think this has tons of atmosphere. just going into my second listen though. I'm in that small minority that thinks Estrangement is their best

I really dug Estrangement myself. The bass being front and center in the mix and the bass lines Roman came up with blew me away. I don't think Microcosmos is anything like that though.

Vocals remind me heavily of Garm. Album is really good.
