Nice summary ;) and because the last three albums had all been utterly similar to each other, even the fans of this band wanted them to do something a little bit different on this album. And that is exactly what Amorphis did. Removing elements of your sound and doing nothing new isn't all that different. Seriously, there's nothing new on here compared to the last few albums. They just changed the ratios of the elements they've always used (barely).Amorphis has always had two key strengths: 1) the sheer beauty of their songs and 2) their driving, beautiful guitar melodies Beauty. That word is tossed around metal reviews more than a midget hooker at a frat party. They have some cool melodies, but rarely "beautiful".
It is a good review though. Glad to see someone wrote one.

Yeah I find when they're called beautiful I find myself agreeing, unlike with loadsa other bands. I'd say it's just how natural their music sounds; I call them 'Nature Metal' myself, if that's not too weird ' .

Nice review dude. Content and descriptions where bang on.
However, I do agree with what masterofcum is striving for. This review needs some serious proofreading. I would allow someone else to help you with this.
Album still rocks.
their best record is tuonela
Agreed.

their best record is tuonela
Agreed. Let me jump on that bandwagon too.
As for the "beautiful" comment, I was kind of (vaguely) referring to the fact that these metal albums that we all find so beautiful, the average person still thinks they're just noisy or whatever. Even stuff like Nightwish, non-metal fans don't find that shit beautiful.

Well tbh this is (at least according to my memory) only the second review where I have called a band's music beautiful and used beautiful to describe something more thoroughly. I have not heard Tuonela so I can't say anything about that but from what I have heard (their last 4 albums, including this one) SW is the best.
Oh and yes, the summary was intended to be like that haha

I just finished reading the review again and it still feels a little awkward in some areas. Like I said before, I would let another set of eyes gaze upon this review. It will give you a fresh perspective of where you went wrong and therefore, you learn a thing or two in the process. It's hard to spot your own mistakes......as I've learned in the past (present) : ).

alright, thanks very much Trey, I'll be sure to send my future reviews for you to proofread if it is necessary. I don't want to be a douche but I really can't find any more mistakes in here so I'll probably leave this one be, since I believe when changing this too much the review's overall quality might decrease. But that's just me though haha

Can ayone even define what beauty actually means, especially when taken from this review?
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.0
haha that's actually a good, fair question and tbh, I must say I can't give you a clear match, but if to break it down - the beauty that i talk about in the review resides in the melodies found here. They are just beautiful, a pleasure to hear. It's like when you go to the countryside and look at a massive, marvelous field of blooming flowers. You say it is beautiful, but can you really explain it? Possibly not. Beauty is something that you shouldn't touch or know, it is something you should feel. It should touch you from the inside aka when it is a gripping catchy melody it's good to listen to, but nothing more, but when it is a truly beautiful melody you know it, but it is very hard to explain or break down the notion. When it is a object you can look at, it is good to the eye and makes you think happy thoughts (or sad, depends on the person); when it is a little child, for example, then you look into his/her face and say that the child is beautiful, but can you really explain it HOW is he/she beautiful? You need to experience beauty for yourself. It's like love, you know when you feel it, but you can never fully explain it.
so yeah, that was deep and in the end my sentence didn't aswer any questions. Success.
