Centaurs are half man half horse...thus anything described as centaurian is a hybrid of 2 entities like this album- pop and experimental

The thing about this is, for new listeners of dredg, you'd probably recommend this first? I dunno.

I'm going to have to rank this one above Catch Without Arms - it has some of the best grooves since Leitmotif with the spirit of experimentation found on El Cielo. My only complaint is that it feels like the quickest album they've had even though it actually clocks in as the longest; it's probably due to them having two categories of interlude-esque songs on here.
This is probably their last chance to break through to the mainstream (and I really don't see that happening), but at the same time they at least stave off needing to match or top El Cielo until their next release. This is a step in the right direction, but I really do think the next album will define them to the majority as either a good band who had one great album or a great band that is capable of multiple masterpieces. Personally I don't need another El Cielo to consider them a great band who have never been afraid to go in new directions.

"Pariah gets better and better the more one granularly segments its musical components."
comments like the one above make a lot of the more lavish word play in this review seem tedious and forced >:|

Great review, agree with the whole identity crisis idea.

How Catch Without Arms has a higher rating than this makes no sense to me. This album is so much better.

I think this is their best album. Havent heard leitmotif, but Im sure its not this good.

Definitely don't agree with the identity crisis. I think dredg knew exactly what they were doing when they made this, which is probably why I'm a point higher than you. Your musical comments are spot on though.

i am digging this album a lot, but feel as though it still hasn't "clicked" for me yet, expect this rating to go up

Album Rating: 3.5
Idk I think this is their weakest album honestly. Cartoon Showroom, Pariah, Quotes, and Ireland rule, but I'm not huge on the rest of the album. Aside from Savior it is very solid though, thus the 3.5 rating.
