i do get a bit lost at times while listening to this but its a great album. its a shame a lot of fans may not like this because it isnt what they are used to with him. get over it.

I've always had more of a preference to his non SYL work as well, not to say I don't enjoy SYL. Anyways, this album intrigues me...suppose I should acquire it soon.

Interesting release. Makes me more excited for the next albums, especially when Devin is claiming that one of them is the heaviest album he has ever written.

I think album is great and completely different from his other outputs in a very fresh and good way. I liked songs, production and most of all it's feel. Best song for me is Gato. This album is so good that I'm not sure his next 3 will be better.

I find it weird that the reviewer felt the need to criticize Ziltoid even though they admit they haven't listened to it properly.

I've been a big DT fan for years and rate Ziltoid as one of Dev's best albums, alongside City, Terria and Ocean Machine. It's certainly a lot better than 'Ki'. It's great to have Dev back and 'Coast' and 'Terminal' are classic tracks, but the rest of the album is a bit too unfocused for my liking. Looking forward to hearing the next three albums, though.

Ugh, please don't mention Ziltoid and Ocean Machine/City/Terria in the same sentence again.

I find it weird that Gavb felt the need to criticize the review even though he obviously hasn't read it properly.

I understand the Devin Townsend Project switch up, but how did that album art come up?

I very much agree with all of this review, especially on the point of how Coast is the best song on the album. That's probably one of my new favorite basslines ever.

haven't listened to this yet so i can't comment directly stylisticly, but i would have liked to see more comparisons to his past "solo" stuff...i get the album is nothing like syl, but you were a little too vague on how it's not devin townsend, the devin townsend band...either way good review and along with the interview a super duper job all-around...
