Yeah Iron Maiden definitely isn't pop metal. Thats bands like Poison and Motley Crue.

iron maiden is like two steps away from that
theyre not as poppy but they sound enough like hair metal to irritate the fuck out of me

Like hair metal???
How could a song like Rime of the Ancient Mariner sound like hair metal to you? Hair metal never had twin guitars, or epic songs or anything!
Hair metal roots go back to whitesnake, while heavy metal's go to Sabbath, Priest and Thin Lizzy

screw u hippy
how can you gather that im a hippy?

sabbath was cool cept ozzy fucked up every groove they got going with shit vox

Ok, before this guy makes more of a fool of himself lets clear some things up.
Iron Maiden were around in the 80's yes, but this album came out around 2006 or so and as such, it does NOT sound like "pop metal" it is actually quite progressive if you listen.
Second of all, calling priest gay (well....) is arrogant as hell. Without priest and sabbath carving the way for metal, many many metal bands would not be the way they are.
And c'mon, maiden hair metal? If anything they were against that label, they didn't even get radio play!

Yeah dude come on. Maiden don't sound like anything close to hair metal.

Kreator is the best 80's thrash, period.
|
| |
calling priest gay
IS only acceptable when only referring to Rob Halford.

Album owns. This has some of the most mature, progressive, and brilliant compositions of their entire discography.
Never listened to Priest much though. I think I have Sad Wings of Destiny sitting around somewhere.

A good few of the tracks on this album blend together, but overall it's really a good one.
Err... Not to see performed live, in its entirety, though. That kind of degraded that tour...

The Legacy is awesome, also.

Album is awesome, I've listened to it almost as much as BNW, NOTB and Piece.

meh, Iron Maiden is a classic band that represent the height of 80's golden age of Metal but i think they just don't sound the same in this album, its not Iron Maiden when they're not galloping. But they do sound more matured and focused on this album.

The way I see it is that they're aging gracefully, and when the average age of a band's members is 52 I think its perfectly fine to slow down like they have here. This Message Edited On 05.07.09

Iron Madien huh? Am I missing something or are these guys the most over rated metal band ever? I just don't get it. I own "Piece of Mind" from 1983. It's ok, but not the greatest thing since slice bread. I know the songs "The number of the Beast" and "Run to the Hills" which are only"ok". Yet these are said to be the bands best songs by many. I don't know if I should buy another one of their albums or not?
Judas Priest is way better.
