i guess Nobody Sings Anymore wasn't officially released but it still exists, if that means anything.

"Early in their career, the band recorded an album entitled Nobody Sings Anymore; however, it was never released due to the shift in the band's musical direction and personal changes undergone following its recording."

is it any good?

I'm not surprised by the Pitchfork rating at all, I actually expected worse.

They're such killjoys.

Also, I cannot believe that Andy Hull is 22.

oh man pitchfork suck, this album is so clearly better than a 5.2. That site is so retarded, they slam music for being boring etc, but rate Sparta "Threes" (which I personally like btw) higher than any Mars Volta stuff, purely because the Mars Volta are semi popular. I actually hate that site.

^ Yeah, but they like a lot of awesome stuff too. Pixies, Radiohead, Isis, Animal collective, the National, Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, Talking Heads, DJ Shadow, Bon Iver. They get too much hate from this site just because they hate on a few bands that they don't like.

Pitchfork is an amazing resource and sure take issue with their hipster image or whatevs but dude they know their music. That they gave this a low score is no surprise whatsoever it clearly doesn't fit into their aesthetic but anyone who knows pitchfork would know that. This Message Edited On 05.07.09

pitchfork's fine for indie reviews... otherwise, they really have no idea what they're talking about.
