I also find that Daveīs voice is great. Heīs not a good vocalist but Iīve never heard someone singing like him, so itīs something special.

Finally someone that agrees with me. He may not be a perfect vocalist but his vocals are special.

Good review but I would rate Blood of Heros and Killin road a 4 or so, but this album was by far my favorite Megadeth album to date, this album is and probably will always be in my all time top 5.

"Yes metallica abandoned their thrash roots as well and yes their later material is not up to their potential. But not all thrash bands did. Look at Slayer. Their later material might be quite as good as their 1980s stuff but at least they stuck to who they were."

I'm not a big Slayer fan, to me they just lack creativity and talent. But as for this album, my favorite tracks are Reckoning Day, Addicted to Chaos, A Tout Le Monde, the title track, and Victory. I find Dave Mustaine's solos to be brllliant, and Marty Friedman is totally a better guitarist than Chris Poland.

Oh, and the "semi-acoustic-sounding" guitar is just clean(no effects).

friedman's solos were equally as proficient as poland's (if not more so) but they were more memorable and catchy and melodic.

case in point ---> tornado of souls. melodic shredding of the highest order from mr. F. nuff sed.

-Cons - Just doesn't have possess the true cutting guitar work they're capable of.

That part doesn't really make sense...just a little mistake. I've only heard A Toute Le Monde off this album and its great...scratch that Train Of Consequences is on their greatest hits...that sounds pretty good too.

Rust In Peace, and The System Has Failed are my favourite Deth albums.

Nice review, but I would switch the ratings for Blood of Heroes and Victory around. Youve got my vote.

Hi. I love this album like all Metallica and Megadeth releases.

Im srpised you rated it a 4, oppose to countdowns rating of 3.5. Remember, countdown was the peak of pushing limits and this album was back to basics....

I'm sick to deth of hearing people winge about Dave's singing. Its really coool. He provides lots of varity in his vocal deliver. His singing suits the songs, and creates a evil, mean, bitchy, cross tone to it, which suits the music. Sometimes he souns a little off, in shitty live recordings, but seeing him live he is awsome. I was so GLAD the vocals are cranked up on ALL the remix and remasters. I belioeve if you truly loce him, then you will love his singing.

I rememmber when this album came out, I detuned my own guitar t E flat and have a ball of a tme learning these songs. Which mind you, were much easy to learn then anything the band had ever done. The slowness and catchyness of the riffs makes it easy to learn.

I also loved the making of youthanasia video which gave a awsome insight into a "MUSIC focussed" Megadeth...

All the songs are really good, and cover a good range of subjects. I was happy to hear the speed picked up in their follow up release tho!

Good review and excellent album. I absolutely love Addicted to Chaos and Blood of Heros...and of course A Tout Le Monde...who doesn't love that song?
