The point is that you can criticize an album -especially an album as shitty as this one- without having to resort to "because it's not as good as this other band" argumentation. It makes you more credible if you don't come off as a fanboy.

But as I've already pointed out, I don't especially care that they're ripping off Meshuggah, it's that as far as I'm concerned, they don't do the parts when they're not ripping them off very well either.

If you don't especially care, why would you mention it in the first place?

album is ok...i find the heavy parts to be insipid...it's not that their a meshuggah-rip, it's that they aren't as good at doing the heavy thing...meshuggah's heaviness and textures atmosphere/ability to change it up would be the best of both worlds but alas...Awake is a damn fine song though and there is potential here...

General consensus tends to enjoy this album so it's you against the world. I like that kind of scenario but yeah, album rules and fuck After The Burial, no way do they touch Textures.

Review leaves a bad taste in my mouth, somewhat similar to semen. Good album though.

Next to your comment about Stef Broks drumming I honestly wonder if we both listened to the same album. The Meshuggah inspiration is obvious, yet the sound is extremely different.

he's pretty cool but doesn't touch Tesseract.

Get the demo man, it rules hard. I reckon their debut will be my album of the year, but time will tell.

These guys can't sound like Meshuggah cause they aren't nearly as boring as the aforementioned band.

i totally disagree, you just did the review around the (false) fact that this is just another 'meshuggah rip-off'.

next time don't base your review on a comparison, which is full of personal opinions

''It can't decide if it wants to be melodic death, metalcore, Meshuggah-clone, thrash, whatever. Though it mixes and match these styles to varying degrees of success, this stops them from having a real identity. They jump around these styles, making the songs a mess and their sound derivative.''

in my opinion, i prefer them to 'jump around styles' rather than listening to a

generic piece of crap. it's your review, but if you are going to say the songs a re a mess at least explain why, in your opinion, they are. so i can agree or disagree with it.
