I was actually going to buy the cd. All hopes have been dispelled by your review, so I thank you. It is a a shame to hear such horrid things about a band you love, but I believe what you're saying completely.

This album sucks. Rediculously bad. In fact I would write a letter to the record company if you did buy this monstrosity and ask for your money back. I can't get over how horrible this is either. This Message Edited On 09.18.05

I thought APC did a pretty good job with this album. And though I don't think it deserves 4.5 stars, it does not deserve 2 stars either.

i actually really enjoy this album. At first when i got it, i agreed that it really isn't their best work, but i listened to the whole thing recently and i found it quite good. the cover of imagine i think is brilliant! i love that dark feel and thats what APC is, really. They really nailed it.

give it a chance

I liked this. These are really cool covers of songs that were already really cool. Maybe it's just that I like industrial so turning these songs into industrial was nifty. And I like the sad spin on Imagine and What's Going On? It makes Imagine sound like he's really imagining a beautiful future in a very sad setting. Same with What's Going On?

Counting Bodies...is a very awesome song too. It's enough to make me want to go get more APC and Tool stuff.

It hardly deserves a 4.5 either, but this 2 rating is ridiculously harsh I'd say. It's more judging based on how APC performed previously than as a standalone record.

Passive is a damn great song, When the Levee Breaks is quite pretty, "Fiddle and the Drum" is quite an original attempt, Freedom of Choice has potential to be catchy and they hardly butchered Imagine. Counting Bodies isn't as bad as I originally thought, either. Overall, it's quite an interesting direction for APC to have gone, and I would have given it a 3 for the effort and originality. The covers may be offputting, but the only songs I've ever heard are Gimme Gimme Gimme (by far the weakest track on this record... they sure destroyed this one) and Imagine (which didn't end up so bad, really).

I honestly don't see the big deal. Some songs are weak, like What's Going On, Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie, and When The Levee Breaks, but as a whole this CD is not a musical disaster. IMO Passive is probably APC's best song next to Gravity and teh apocalypse remix of The Outsider.

I really love this album, don't look at it as A third album, please, becuase then it will suck against the other 2. See it as a cover release. It's great.

I can't believe this. I couldn't get enough of this album when I first bought it. I have been a Tool fan for like a million years, and I own every peice of Tool material that I could get my hands on. I think the problem is you were expecting some in your face top40 music. You can't pyshically handle something deeper. The melodies this album creates are insane, so sweet. Mer de Noms was awesome, 13th step was pretty cool, and this was is Freakin' awesome.

Passive is sweet, but there are some mighty odd left turns on this album. I'm kind of alone in liking Imagine, apparently.
Good at a budget price, but that's about it.
'You can't pyshically (sic) handle something deeper'
lol
DeathByPlane, I think the problem was that we were expecting a GOOD album.
