Gee Ross, way to pump me up for Billy Talent later today. Now I really can't wait. I think they're on stage at about 6pm. By then, I'll be more burnt than a well done piece of steak!
How about your best concert Kane? If I had to personally pick one it would be Muse at a medium sized venue 2-3 years back.
Thanks Ali. To be honest, I was a little unsure what to put for the reco'd albums for this particular release, so I just kept going with the same 3 bands from the last 2 Living Colour albums. If you're going to look into Living Colour, I would not start with this album. Start at the beginning with 'Vivid'. Apparently there is a "half-decent" song on there called 'Cult of Personality'!

(a) Don't yell at me.
(b) Don't call me baby (where's Chan when you need him).
(c) [Davey quickly consults dictionary on word 'blazed'] Well I hope the burns you suffered weren't too bad Kane.
| | | Lol at dictionary definition of blazed.
Davey have a good time at Billy Talent tonight :-), who's supporting them???
| | | lol, ya have fun man
& by blazed i mean i got bare lean

[Davey looks up definition of 'bare lean'] Huh, you got naked & skinny! That couldn't be a good look!
It's a one-day festival Ross, so Billy Talent are being supported by: Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Alkaline Trio, Anberlin, Lamb Of God, Say Anything, Dillinger Escape Plan, Underoath, Saves The Day, Lacuna Coil, Bloodhound Gang, Funeral For A Friend, Emery, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Forever The Sickest Kids, InnerPartySystem, Bayside, Less Than Jake, Valencia, New Found Glory, Rival Schools, Silverstein, Chiodos, Finch, Madina Lake, Minus The Bear & about 30 other bands. Basically, every band that currently exists is in Melbourne-Australia right now!

Gee, no need to be so "blunt" Kane!
By the way, the full list of bands for Soundwave can be found at www.soundwavefestival.com.
I was actually taking a peak at the Glastonbury Festival website yesterday - as I will likely be in England at the time - Gee, it's good to see in these difficult economic times that events such as that can sell out before practically any bands have been announced for the show!
| | | Haha, I know mangg. I'm choosing Reading over Glastonbury again this year. Better music imo.
| | | "Metallica at Wembley stadium was probably the best concert I've been to"
Now THAT woulda been really cool!

Now THAT woulda been really cool!
Specially as they were supported by Mastodon, Machine Head and to a lesser extent HIM.
Oh and Davey, needless to say I'm jealous. Never been to a festival, maybe I need to this year. This Message Edited On 02.26.09
| | | This sounds like something I'd really like. I think I might just buy a couple of Living Colour CDs when I next go into town. Great review, need I mention?
Just out of curiosity, Davey - which would you say is your favourite band? I'm hedging my bets on Rise Against right now...
| | | Naww Daveys favorite group has gotta be Grupa 220 :-PThis Message Edited On 02.27.09

I'm finally awake... After one helluva long, but very rewarding, day. All went well at Soundwave Festival & to say it was well worth the money is an under-statement. Ross, I highly recommend a festival experience some time in the near future for you. Although, I guess over there they are so huge (For example: 3 days long) that it may be difficult to find a one-dayer to get you going. Then again, that Metallica bill looks like a mini-festival in itself.
Kane, there was a guy yesterday at the festival wearing a Reading Festival t-shirt, but I couldn't believe that was one year's worth as there were so many great bands so low down on the bill. I'll need to check out if that was a combination of years or 1 years worth & get back to you.
Thanks Spamue1. If you want a tester of Living Colour before going into the albums, they have at least 2 'Best Of' compilations which can be rather easily found, most likely at a discounted price.
What's my fave band? Kane was very close. It's actually AQUA! I like to take the Venga Bus to see my Barbie Girl. LOL!
Gee, asking anyone about their favourite band can be a constantly changing factor. I may know more come the end of March when I see Rise Against live for the first time ever. My all-time fave band could be Def Leppard, but Rise Against are definitely closing in. That combination of old-school punk and mainstream accessibility is just right up my alley. But believe it or not, if there was a band whose sound is probably closest to what I really like, it is Welsh outfit LostProphets. They haven't quite put it all together just yet and hopefully their new album does just that.
Ross, what is a "Grupa 220"?

Probably was one years worth, most of the bands that play are good the whole way through. You dirty little barbie loving vengaboy.
I popped out a review earlier than expected, you should be impressed & I'm gonna have another one done early next week so ;).
| | | Did you manage to see The Subways? They're a really under rated band, probbaly the only one I would pay to see (hence why I didn't go).
| | | Album Rating: 3.5
Just trying to write up a journal & list on my Soundwave experience, so will get to your review eventually Kane.
Your question on The Subways will be answered on that Croc.
Holy crap Kane, I just checked on The Reading/Leeds Festival & it was the one year... Last year. I just couldn't believe bands like Thrice, Alkaline Trio & Gaslight Anthem would be so low down on the bill. I know it was partially because they were playing a smaller stage, but still... Have a look at the main-stage line-up for each of the 3 days. Wow! Can you actually move around from stage to stage or are there too many people? And can you actually get a half-decent spot close to the stage?
| | | Glad too know you had a good time Davey, and yeah, hoping I can go to a festival this year with any luck.
Oh and a 'Grupa 220' were a former Yugoslavian hippie band formed in 1966. I know this because they are played often in the independant music store that I frequent.
| | | Album Rating: 3.5
Yeah Ross, the day went great & I've just put together a list which gives my (relatively) quick thoughts. If someone can let me know how to make a journal entry, I will go into even more detail of the day.
And LOL about 'Grupa 220' you crazy hippie you. Now that's one that is really out of left field. I expect a review of their album by the end of next week!
