Jane Doe has benchmarked metalcore... I feel like this album has potential to be another rung in the ladder. It's growing on me big time after a pretty meh run through.
I'm not too into the random techy bits every verse but this album seems to have tickled my fancy.

I personally dig this album, though I do agree it is rather formulaic. Great production though, and the screaming is great.

yeah this is one of the better harsh vocal performances of recent memory; every scream just sounds like it's actually being fueled by REAL emotion rather than the heaps and heaps of generic and boring vocals we're used to hearing

This is the first cd that I've listened to from this band, and after the first time through I'm not over impressed. Like, it's decent enough but nothing really stood out to me. I'll give it a couple more shots and we'll see what happens.
Review was good and got me to check out the disc, so nice job.

You really need to listen to 'Nightmares', that's probably their best.

^ Agreed, Nightmares DESTROYS this and also beats Ruin to a slightly lesser extent.
The intensity is ruined for me by the very formulaic approach. Yes, they hit you in the face sometimes when they're trying, but its ultimately a bunch of songs following one model.

Meh Nightmares is more technical but better?. . . idk. All the albums seem on par with each other just that the strengths and flaws of each album are different.

This CD is good, but I'm not too fond of the Bury Your Dead breakdowns.
And Sam needs to take voice lessons ASAP, I AM YOUR HERO, MY VOICE CRACKS A WHOLE DAMN LOT, etc.

And Nightmares isn't better because it's more technical, it's better because it's more interesting.
