I'm not a big fan of A Night at the Opera and A Twist in the Myth and that's the reason I haven't checked At the Edge of Time yet. Is it any different than those two albums?

'Blind Guardian is one of those bands that have always been awesome, regardless of what style or era '

Agreed, these guys have one of the most consistent discographies that you're going to find

Definitely agree. It's a matter of personal preference which era of theirs one prefers but the quality of their work is undeniable.

Oh yeah, both bands are definitely up there. When I look at these covers I feel like 15 years old again.

All in all these guys have never made a bad album. It's a matter of taste which side of theirs (speed vs symphonic) one prefers but their discog is solid.

I agree. I prefer their Speed Metal stuff personally but I think every album is good. Beyond the Red Mirror is their weakest IMO but it is still at least a 3.0 for me.

I lean towards the symphonic sound of recent times over their trebly speedster roots plus the production has been better in the latter half of their career but agreed it's all awesome stuff

I actually prefer the production by Kalle Trapp on the older albums. It wasn't as polished as the production on their more recent albums but I feel that it worked really well for Blind Guardian's Speed Metal stuff. The super crisp production that Charlie Bauerfeind does on their newer albums fits the Symphonic/Power Metal style better.
