meh

Hate Crystal was okay. Looming Resonance was pretty damn boring.

It was Jamie Myers on this album. Jesus. The vocalist from Like Flies on Flesh/Southmouth/Hammers of Misfortune.

Good review. I'm waiting for my copy of this in vinyl format in the mail. I think you can only get it in vinyl.....

This is gut.

Only bums think otherwise.

Thanks for the positive comments. It'll be interesting to see how reflective this is of the Black Cascade, if at all.

Nice review, not sure how I missed this. Love this thing, Hate Crystal might be my favorite song from these guys to date. Your last two paragraphs are spot on. Can't wait for the new album.

I like the songs and I think having the opening track be all female vocals was cool for the EP. My issue with this is the same issue I had with "Diadem of 12 Stars" and most Opeth since "Deliverance"... the songs are too long for the amount of actual material present. No, they make intensely boring riffs that last too long and use the whole "we're ambient" copout to cover their asses for subpar songwriting.

I really hope this doesn't start a flamewar.

But their ambiance is really well done. And I like the progression of their songs, I agree they don't change up a whole lot, but they do need to, it's part of the atmosphere. This Message Edited On 02.10.09

See that's the thing. I think the ambience is poorly done. Well, the ambience may not be poorly done, but I think the riffs need to be mildly interesting at least.

I agree with Eakflanderyof to an extent, Diadem is a good album, Two Hunters not so much but this EP is just goddamn boring.

I agree that Diadem is their best, but I still don't think it's any better than a 3 or 3.5 at the most.

Shit, I'm the opposite, I find Diadem boring/repetative, Two Hunters quite massive, and this to be supremely well executed.

I actually immediately fell in love with the clean vocals. They're really different from the other two albums. Once again, I'm with you AngelPheonix, this album is mega.
