Their other two are better but this is still one of the better melo-death albums out there imo.

This is alright, kind of gets old after awhile. You pretty much summed this up in a nutshell.

the more you realize that things are just getting worse
Not really worse, just sort of...painfully average.

Good review. I've only heard Above the Weeping World and I think its good, but nothing great. I think this band gets way too much praise.

As if this site needed more elitists. It's getting more and more hostile every day here, it's very off-putting.

Boring band, Doppelganger is correct.

This is pretty boring, and StDiaCD isn't anything spectacular, though I rather enjoy it. But AtWW is anything but boring.

I think it's a contradiction on your behalf to criticise this album but give the band's other albums a higher rating; they are almost identical to this in structure and sound.

Not really, both following albums copied this debut in feel and sound, and were tedious and boring for doing so.

you're absolutely right, but it's one of those things where they managed to jiggle their formula until the pieces fit, but if they continue with that sound I will disregard them

However all the Insomnium haters will be here soon to agree with you. I can already hear Wizard coming.

AND HERE'S WIZARD!

To be quite frank, I feel this way about everything I've heard from this band. The intro had me in stitches. Well done!

This is the only album by them that I actually enjoy. I thought the future albums were the boring, predictable ones.

holy crap you actually did it! well this didn't deserve to be neg'd so i'll pos. good review man, you explained your points well but ..

Seriously though, Fire, I see where you're coming from with this. The riffs sound similar, and there is no variance in the vocals... but IMO when the riffs sound this sweet and vocals are this good it doesn't really matter. I'm a diehard fan of this band.

exactly what I wanted to say. Also The Elder has one of the worst metal videos I've ever seen.
