They're best album yet for me, just becuase how varied it is.
I've found theres only about 2 songs on this album which are weak. The other 10 are flawless.

I think the title track is a little weaker than the rest but I think that is just because they were trying something new. I'm with Frankie on this one - the band's best yet.

I still like their debut more but Hollow Crown rivals it a lot more then Ruin. This Message Edited On 01.27.09

I hate how so many people round where I live (MK, England) are saying these are trying to copy BMTH. For one thing, they're complete different genres and sound nothing alike. Also, they're actually good, as opposed to the shitty deathcore bullshit that BMTH produce.
Rant over. Good review!

Great album. I put up a Guitar Pro tab on ultimate-guitar, if anyone's interested. It's a much better tab than the other one.

| |
Could you send me the tab? It takes ages for the tabs to get approved....

Loving this album right now, there isn't a single mediocre song on it, and each song has something different. Was lucky enough to see these guys along with Misery Signals the other week, awesome show.
Oh there's also a bonus track on the UK release I want to check out when I get the actual physical copy in my greedy hands.

I really didn't like this too much
have to listen to it a few more times, though, before I'm able to rate it. right now it wouldn't be more than 3/5.

The tab is really good (much better than the ASCII one). Here are some areas you should check out: the breakdown/bridge at the end sounds wrong, shouldn't it be a 02 instead of 00? The bass-line in the techy-riff is too complicated. And this last point is just me nitpicking but the drums could do without the 35s (acoustic bass drum)

I kinda liked Ruin, but couldn't really get into it.
From the looks of the review and feedback, I do believe I'll give this a shot.

Well, no, the 2 shouldn't be there. It would then become an octave chord which doesn't sound right and it's not how it's played. When you're actually playing on a detuned guitar, the dissonance between the strings makes it sound... right... and it's certainly how Tom and Tim play it, I've watched them. The bass line is completely a guess, but from videos of it live it seems that Ali plays some of the hammer-ons and not others. It is certainly a complete guess though. As for the additional kick layering, I just added it to make the kicks sound more punchy, but yeah, a matter of personal preference. 100% sure on the breakdown riff though.

I've also tabbed out all the guitars in Follow the Water, and Numbers Count for Nothing. I'll probably do the whole album.
This is a pretty good review (to get back on topic). It's definitely better than Nightmares and Ruin in my opinion, and while there are definitely flaws, overall it's a pretty crushing album.
