There's plenty of doom with vocals that can be understood (at least mostly).

* Candlemass - King of the Grey Islands

* Evereve - Seasons

* Funeral - In Fields Of Pestilent Grief

* My Dying Bride - The Angel and the Dark River

* Nightly Gale - Imprint

* Paradise Lost - Icon

* Void of Silence - Human Antithesis

* While Heaven Wept - Of Empires Forlorn

So start there and then try these two which are good gateways into doom with more death growls:

* Aglarond - Embraced in Darkness

* Hanging Garden - Inherit the Eden

Whether he plays butt-darts or not, he should still check out those albums (and so should all you fuckers too).

@ Willie

Evereve's band pic is badass. I guess you weren't too impressed with Nightly Gale?

Also, you need to listen to Darkflight and Mythological Cold Towers.This Message Edited On 01.14.09

Ha ha, yeah it is. If anyone checks out Evereve just know that only their first two albums have any doom influence.

I like Nightly Gale's music a lot, but one of the vocal styles really bothers me sometimes.

Wizard, how big is your cd collection? It seems you buy everything you like.

800-850+ cds

50+ vinyl (just started collecting)

He even buys some stuff he doesn't like lol

This is true. I'm a risktaker ya know.

Yeah, I can get promo albums and I've got a contact now with Metropolis Records (one of the bigger industrial lables), but this album actually comes out in two days (check their official site). Where did you find that release date?

God damn you!!! I saw the release date on Omegaorders.com.

You see, Wiz actually eats the CDs he buys. He believes he will gain supermusic powers from this ritual.

How did you know?

Wizard, you need to find the Void of Silence album "Human Antithesis". It's like if Neurosis did a doom album (kind of...)

If you can't find it or don't want to look then shoot me an e-mail and I'll point you in the right direction.This Message Edited On 01.14.09

I downloaded Void of Silence and Anglarond (the two I don't have from the list). Interestingly enough, I already had While Heaven Wept in my library but I have absolutely no recollection of adding it. I'll probably give those all a listen tonight.

Void of Silence and Anglarond are very different from each other even though they're in the same genre... actually While Heaven Wept is different than all of them too. It's funny that you DL so much stuff that you have things you don't even remember getting.

Anyway, I'm interested to know what you think of them after you get a chance to check them out.

Edit: You've heard Evereve? I thought I was the only one... especially their first two albums.This Message Edited On 01.14.09

I haven't heard Evereve aside from the tracks on their myspace. I wasn't really interested.

I just realized that Evereve is a palindrome.

I'm at work and Myspace is blocked, but I'm pretty sure that the Evereve tracks there are probably all off of their electronic/gothic rock albums (which start with the third album). Was there actually something off of "Seasons" or "Stormbirds"?
