Meh...I like Stone Sour, but, Slipknot is better at being insanely angry and overly pissed off...and I've heard SS's s/t, so don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about...
fair enough, I'm not into the angry stuff, so yeah, each to his own.
did i ever say i didnt like nu-metal? i dont like slipknot so i MUST not like nu-metal - that makes sense. i like some nu-metal bands (deftones mainly) so i wont insult it. did i say anything about thrash metal either??? i have an at the drive in (who are far from punk) avatar - so you jump to the conclusion that i like good charlotte??? stop raving you idiot.
im not going to reply any more, i hate arguing, even moreso with brainless people who dont know what they're talking about, like yourself.
ok you said you like the deftones, then why did you say earlier when i commented on what you said, you came back with something along the lines of " someone with a deftones avatar shouldn't even begin to talk about me"
|
| |
i probably had no other way of insulting you  nah the deftones are cool, im sorry.
|
| |
no prob....just thought i'd clear it up. btw at the drive in are sweet

ill be honest and say its mediocre and awful on some levels. The lyrics are the worst part and their marketability. They feel like they had to whine about pointless crap all the time in order to be marketable. Other then that, the tunes are somewhat catchy and I would consider them a decent band if it wasnt for that
|
| |
Well, look at who the lyrics are aimed at...they are meant to be violent, and overly cliche...
I'll admit too, that's half the reason I don't listen to them very often...because Corey is indecipherable when he sings/raps/screams half the time, and when you can understand him, he's only saying what other nu metal bands have said 50 million times already...
You know, if he only sang or screamed, and they changed up their lyrics abit...I don't know...alot of people talk about how nu-metally they are...and while they aren't really 'hardcore' as the definition of the genre is...they do seem harder than other nu metal bands..
Meh, this may not be the place for this discussion...but it does affect how much (or little) I listen to their material...

Album Rating: 4.0
How on earth did THIS thread turn into an argument on pop-punk?
|
| |
ew...
|
| |
why is it all you punk-heads like to call everyone posers when your music has sell-out into that pop-punk crap (good charlotte, bla bla bla you know what i'm talking about)
i completely agree! not everyone who likes slipknot is a poser! and like sicness said,ur music has sellout written all over it! dont even talk to me about being a poser!
|
| |
I like this album. 4/5

|
| |
i wait and bleed myself. And My Plague from the other one o.o I really only those two songs.
|
| |
well for one thing sickness, us so called "punk heads" dont like goodcharlotte, cause theyre not punk, theyre pop, a little girls band full of a bunch of pussys who like to sing about **** they dont even care about. Another thing is that half of the people who like slipknot are *posers*, they think that slipknot is the hardest thing out there when i know all of us have heard numerous bands that slipknot couldnt evern compare with. Hell poison the well is harder than slipknot. Ive heard christian bands singing about jesus scream harder and play harder riffs than a bunch of angry wannabe-satanists who try to scare us with their gay masks and the supposed "insane" attitude in their music. Bottom line in that you shouldnt call our music a bunch of sellouts when if i remember right, slipknot was a sellout too.

Does Anybody Here Agree With Me???
|
| |
Well, I'm not a Slipknot fan, but I dig their producer.. his sister used to be married to a friend of my mom's (whose son is my bro's friend).. and he came out here one time to celebrate the kids birthday.. i chatted with him a bit, hes an alright guy. I don't why he didnt allow solos on Iowa tho..
|
| |
One of my favorite albums ever.
|
| |
It's a nice album... It was my first album with "heavy music" back then.

I thought that as there is no Iowa album listed i thought i'd make one so here it is.
1. 515
Well its not really a track it's just Slipknot makin weird noises, they seem liked they are being tortured??? [score] 1/10
2.people=s**t
I Think This track is great i real heavy opening with every instrument blaring and joey's d/b bass drumming is sick.Overall though the lyrics arent as strong as others on the album but the aggresive chorus makes up for that.
8/10
3.disasterpiece
This track is pretty good but the chorus isn't as good and some of the lyrics are pretty bad the 1st two lines have nothing to do with the song, near the ends of the track when it calms and starts up again it sounds like slipknot again.
7/10
4.plague me
This is definately one of the strongest track on the album the lyrics are great and the catchy chorus makes the song come together, you can see this track on the resident evil movie soundtrack. good one guys.
9/10
5.everything ends
Good track similar to the other guitar wrenching tracks though faster verses and a even faster chorus gives this track a good and deserved.
7/10
666.heretic anthem
This song is great and has a catchy chorus and violently half-roar verses with other members of the bands adding to the chorus by shouting '666!'
another good one.
7.5/10
7.gently
A suprisingly calmer edge to Slipknot is realeased here or so you think until Corey Unleashes a roar and the guitars build then goes calmer again.
Then goes kinda crazy by the band going back to the older tracks styles by Corey and the other members roaring out the last 3/4 of the song.
brilliant.
8.5/10
8.left behind
Not the heaviest but one of the best or maybe the best song on the album with another member and Corey (adding to the verses and takin control of the chorus) shout out catchy as anything lines which have singing in the most unsual places. The track then loses the roaring and goes into a more creative mode as corey slurs out the lyrics:
'i can feel it on my mouth
i can taste you on my fingers
i can hear you like the holy ghost and kill you if you get too close.
Utter Genius from the band.
ps. check out that guitar
9.5/10
9. the shape
opening of the tracks releases more ear battering sounds and the verses chill out as you hear Joey battering his drums in a almost punk motion.
This one is up there with plague me and left behind another strong point of the album. brilliant chorus.
9/10
10.i am hated
The Track opens with Corey takin care of the verses and a distant robot type voice talking away in the background.
The chorus is great and stays in your head for ages, when you thought that these guys couldn't keep it up then can.
9/10
11.skin ticket
This track opens with Joey smashing away with a flare of cymbals wild splashes and chinas and his hi-hat.To a wild burst of energy into a mellowed part with Corey almost whispering 'come see my cage, built in my grain.
nice. 9/10
12.new abortion
An Amazing track with one of the best choruses on the whole album this one is a definate. 9.5/10
13.metalbolic
a rampant blare of firing machine gun drumming and aggresive verses,a great distorted haunting chorus with various members releasing lyrics.8.5/10
14.iowa
a terribly lengthy song starting with various sounds of screeches and Joey Hitting the bell of his ride. When it finally releases it's power it's a pretty good song.
8/10
Overall i think personally Iowa is a definate purchase for any Slipknot fan and basically one of the best records i own.
a rightfully deserved 9.5/10
buy it people for your own sake
cheers.

Not a bad review, but why not just make a thread on it if there isnt one already?
