If I didn't lose my ipod I would give F.T another chance. But really, the album had no redeeming qualities for me. Maybe it's a sign though, for Jesus to keep me away from Forgotten Tomb. I'll stick to the first band I mentioned to keep me satisfied.

also, lmao at charlesfishowitz's soundoff
|
| |
you two don't agree? fucking shit!
also, I'm getting a feeling that if you slow the chorus of Outshined by Soundgarden, it would be doom as hell.
|
| |
fourth of july is more doomy
|
| |
it is indeed, but i'm still sayin, i think outshined slowed down would be pretty sweet.
|
| |
oh for sure
|

Springtime Depression is also pretty good Hawks, check that out as well.
Yeah I'll definitely be checking that out.
|
| |
I still need to check out their other two albums, I'll do that eventually though.

A trite offering of doom influenced black metal.
Wow, this sounds really promising minus the 'trite'. I've never heard the two genres smushed together.
such as the Leviathan-like rolling guitar lines found in the first two minutes, but every couple of minutes the song slows to a stop and is picked up again by a different riff or melody.
I can't stand bands that sound like they force genres together HAHAHAHAH (to purposely contridict my comment above!).
Excellent review. I'm still gonna give this one a go. Sounds good hahaha.

Wizard, you should check out Forgotten Tomb - Songs to Leave before this, that's far better. It's blackened doom as well, and doesn't have all the flaws that Mourning Dawn has.
|
| |
Ummm sure, I wil give Forgotten Tomb a listen. But after 2 mins of this crap, I don't think I want to hear this sub-genre anymore hahaha.
|
| |
haha, I don't know if you've read the comments on this page, but Forgotten Tomb is basically the only black/doom band that I've heard who are actually good.
|
| |
Wow, so this sub-genre is like metalcore for the most part?
|
| |
I have this. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I remember it being good. I'll re-listen after I finish the Colosseum review.

Possibly even worse.

Yeah I remember seeing your rating for this back when I first got the album, before you deleted your ratings. I think you had it as a 3.
|
| |
Yeah, it was a 3. Maybe I was being too nice... we'll see. I tend to agree with your opinions on music, so I'm looking forward to relistening.
|
| |
Yeah, my original thought was to give it a 3, but after I'd been through it once I didn't have any desire to listen to it again, and so I didn't think a 3 would still be appropriate.

The fact that I haven't listened to this since the first week I got it makes me think that it should have probably been a 2.5 as well. I'm listening to Chapter 1 right now, and then Chapter 2, then I'll throw this on when I start writing.
|
| |
What direction is the Chapter 2 review going to take? I haven't listened to it since I last spoke to you about it. I think I might go through it again later on so I can have a clearer judgement, as I don't remember it all too well.
