This definitely has staying power with me. I doubt I would ever change my rating for this.

I am in the process of checking it out soon. I have had it for a while, but I have just been on the Arghoslent train lately lol. Why did you drop your rating, no staying power?
Well, I didn't actually drop my rating, it was always going to be 3.5, so it's not really a matter of staying power, more a matter of taste. I have my own issues with the album, but I still really enjoy it, and whether it's a 3.5 or a 4 or even a 4.5 makes no difference to the album itself, it's just that on such a 5 point scale, comparing it with other albums and trying to judge it objectively, a 3.5 as my personal rating feels appropriate.

Ahh I understand. Listening to a few tracks, and so far it's catchy and jamming. Is that Disembowelment like this?

Not at all.
|
| |
In a way, yes, but Disembowelment is far less accessible, a lot heavier and harder to digest. Their album also has the two extreme ends of the death/doom spectrum: occasional furious moments while the rest is very slow and pummeling riffage, whereas The Drowning fits somewhere in between, not too slow but not very brutal either. Disembowelment's album is a decade and a half old as well, so production wise it can be hard to get into.

Rasputin, did you notice I finally wrote another review?
|
| |
What, you did? No, I hadn't noticed. I'll read it now :D
|
| |
So do these guys sound anything like Swallow The Sun?
|
| |
Check it out yourself on myspace. Besdies, STW is pretty gay. I didn't see this Rasputin. I must have been banned at this time, but "The Drowning" is a sick band name. I will myspace this.
|
| |
I hope STW wasnt a typo for STS...because they arent gay...even when i try to ask a simple question on this site some "hardcore" sputnik user has to be a jerk off to me.
|
| |
How was he being a "jerk off"?
|
| |
Being a jerk off is what sputnik is all about...stupid new users
|
| |
Amen.
|
| |
Cause he didnt have to offer his negative opinion about a band i like. He didnt even have to answer, it was yes or no. But he had to get a one up on a "new" user by bashing a band i like. If I had 3000 comments it would have been "Just check it out man, on their myspace". But he had to throw an insult in there, and look who came to his defense....some more hardcore users.
|
| |
You asked a question, but he didn't have to answer? That might have been the stupidest thing I've ever seen on this site.
HARDCORE USERS 4 LIFE!
|
| |
Ya...i didnt ask him personally so he didnt "have" to answer. The only reason he did is because he saw the opportunity to bash a "new" user he obviously knows more about music than because he has more posts...its physics duh??!!

No, he answered because you asked a question. He didn't say they were gay because you like them. He said they were gay because he doesn't. The fact that you're a new user probably had nothing to do with it.
|

Haha aint that the truth...it just does seem like every time i post i get ragged on. Oh well...i still have dignity in the real world....sometimes
