I really don't know what to think about this album, I love the story and the haunted feel through the whole thing, but it just seems so different then all the other king diamond albums. I don't remember any of the music, just the lyrics. I can't even remember what songs parts of the plot take place in, the songs are just that unmemorable.

Pretty great album and kinda different instrumentally than most of his stuff. Love the bluesy solo on I Am.

The only real flaw of the album for me is the last song cause
1. The music is noticeably inferior to the previous songs
2. The part with the falling window that was attached in a string (lol) and the picking up of the head were rushed, uninspired and completely ruined the finale...
EDIT: I forgot to mention that's it's still a criminaly underrated album that might need a few listens in ordet to grow on you, due to the different nature of it's music.

This has grown on me a lot (like all later KD albums). Digging Graves main riff is heavy as fuck. This is basically his doom metal album

Hate to disagree with some of my boys on here, but this was a huge letdown. These songs aren't that good. My 3 is generous.

Thracks dude I know it well, bought it on release day. It's just not as good as a lot of his other stuff.
Lineup is whack too.

I really dig the like-recorded-in-a-tomb production, it really fits the concept. Plus some really good songs and King's vocal melodies. But i tend to agree with Titan, for example Darrin Anthony's drumming is as mediocre as it gets.

Same as Titan here, purchased it back in 1996, the spins I've given it these 25 years cements the 3 - 3,5 rating, especially compared to the better Voodoo (which has a Dimebag solo btw). So, give it a few more spins dawg.

Discog run, stop, here; "The Spider L..." was so great, imo. Anticipating a rewarding first full jam.
