Its probably their weakest release. Either this or their debut.

Yeah I agree. It's still a great album though.

I don't know, i've always considered Below The Lights to be their best release, with this being a close second. I guess it's the weird atmosphere that got me hooked. Not much of a fan of the polished prod on the last two albums, although they have better musicianship (hence why they get better ratings, atmosphere is subjective, musicianship isn't).

The experimentation on this album is used to brilliant effect, though when it is used with the trademark Viking black metal sound it can sometimes sound incomplete, though most songs here are 6+ minutes long. A wonderful introduction to 21st Century Enslaved...

Nice review. Pos'd.

Ended up listening to this because Ruun wasn't clicking with me. I love the sound they have on the album (it does seem to vary an awful lot through their discography). How "A Monument Part II" changes up is crazy awesome.. had to double check who I was listening to.. then it goes into "Hollow Inside". Yes.

Love it when a band pulls off some experimenting well.

This is pretty underrated, I love the psychedelia component and it reminds me a lot of Morbus Chron's Sweven

Those first three songs are a trip. Convoys To Nothingness might be one of their best openers. This is the weakest album from them I've heard overall, but it's still really good. This band sets high standards for it's self.

I'm working through the discography now, not really in order. Just have a few more left now. And after the first listen, this is definitely one of the better ones. A pleasant surprise.

They became amazingly brilliant after this album.
