i really love lvia and cygnus, and i think cassandra is okay... miranda and widow bore me to tears .
|
| |
how is mirdana boring? it's pretty much the only song where all the pointless ambience noodling isn't actually pointless. :p

Spot-on review. This is the only TMV album I own, but I think I'll probably get Frances the Mute one of these days.

I don't like this and I don't know why. It has all the ingredients of something I should love.
|
| |
idk why either, you really should unless you like bad music

4 ist too low. this is a 5 no doubt.
Definitely also check out Frances The Mute, it's their best work.
this is completely objective tbh, as i enjoy frances the mute the least out of all of their releases (besides scab dates of course)

The only truly worthwhile Mars Volta album. They went downhill after this.

uh, guys, everyone who loves TMV, should probably try this one out:

a spanish prog rock band from the 70s with flamenco influences; I wouldn't be surprised if The Mars Volta drew a lot of their inspiration from this band, there are suprising similarities in sound and style. and they are nowhere less wanky and complex, but more focused and actually a bit better if you ask me. They have their whole fantastic "Recuerdos de mi Tierra" album on the myspace page (though the songs are not in the right order)
