christina is better than britney singing-wise, but that doesnt necessarily make her the better artist. not sure if your review or christina's career thus far merits a 4.... although "hurt" is an amazing, amazing song...

Album cover scares me every time I load the site and see the featured review section.
I have to admit that I like some of Christina's songs, but only if they're on the radio, I wouldn't buy a cd.

I'm all for being open-minded and 'cosmopolitan' and all, but I think there's a line that always needs to be drawn between art and trash.
Aguilera has never been anything but trash.
What you describe as being 'sexually agressive' and 'defiant' has always been just translucent, shallow marketing. While in your eyes she may have stood out from Britney or J-Lo in some way, let's not forget that she was essentially created in Britney's image, plus a gross over-application of fake-tan.
She doesn't write her own music, and every woman and her diamond ring - as has become all too apparent - can sing like that.
Why is the fact that she's cashing in on a greatest hits album after releasing a dismal 3 records considered an achievement to be lauded?

Anyway, I truly decided to give Christina a fair shake when a friend of mine described her on Back to Basics as having "the voice of a black woman twice her size." As a favor to him, I listened to the album and was pleasantly surprised.
Most of you know me. Since my baptism of fire into metal, my black heart has only grown colder and I've gotten even more pretentious and crass. So it should say something about the quality of Christina's work that I give her the thumbs up.
After reading this review... well, she did a pretty good job of being retro on Back to Basics. So yeah, I'd actually be eager to see what she can do with electronic music.This Message Edited On 12.07.08

I'm not anti-mainstream.. hell, I almost liked JT's last album (it's not something I'd listen to, but I give it credit). I've always been a huge fan of MJ and Oasis too. You just have your knickers in a twist because I said something you don't agree with you fat hypocrit.
So suck my 'bad-ass'. I'm not allowed to object to Christina Aguilera just because she's mainstream? She's a perfectly objectionable person isn't she? I didn't think I'd be hurting anyone's feelings, shit.

I kind of agree about the 'not writing her own songs' part if she really isn't but I don't know whether she does or not. I mean if she isn't writing the songs then I wouldn't write a review flattering her for developing or something etc. but on the flip side I could still give it a positive review if I enjoy it.
