You make a valid point Davey, I don't think it was advertised much here either, so obviously if less people know about it, less will buy it.

Oh yeah, promotion & advertising are also important in early sales. But I thnink when all was said & done, the lead single was the most important factor here & 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' just wasn't up to par. In retrospect, they would have been better off leading with 'Shine On' and playing up on the emotion factor!

Thanks Kane. And yeah, I don't personally think this is an album that anyone who hasn't heard it needs to prioritize listening to any time soon. At best, give it (or at least my recommended tracks) a whirl when their 3rd album is released next year.

next up: a badly drawn boy review coming straight from the mouth of daveyboy. you heard it here first!

Haven't heard "Put your money where your mouth is", so I'll take your word for that Davey.

Haha. As soon as I saw that you had commented in this review Robin, I knew there was going to be a Badly Drawn Boy reference.
Ross, 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' isn't a bad song or anything (I'd definitely have it in the better half of this album), but it's just not a great lead single and too clearly grasps unsuccessfully at being an 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' wannabee.

I'm pretty pumped for the new album after hearing 2 songs and for some bizzare reason i've always had a soft spot for this band.

Yeah, I'm with you Croc. I've got a soft spot for them & I like the simplicity of 'She's A Genius'. I think it may be back to straight-ahead rock'n'roll for them after the more serious 'Shine On'.
I hope Nic is ok though as he collapsed on stage earlier this week during a gig somewhere.

Debut is fun but this is pretty boring.

Still not as good as the pitchfork review.

Hey Dad!
Remember Vietnam?
You hated Vietnam.
And now you love Uncle Sam.

This is terrible but I still unironically love it.

This is prolly my favorite record by them with their debut being a close second.
Can't wait to hear their new album.
