For what could be broadly defined as pop, the debut LP by The Wombats delivers something refreshingly different. Basing their tales around the album's title of 'A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation', the trio do not take themselves too seriously & inject their songs with fun, witty & humorous one-liners. While its shelf life is questionable & it runs off the rails towards the more experimental end, the catchy choruses, deceptive vocal harmonies & versatile musicianship sees this remain an entertaining & enjoyable LP with a curiously likeable charm. Recommended Tracks: Let's Dance to Joy Division, My First Wedding, Kill the Director & Moving to New York.

Dude, this is one of the most unique alternative albums! I love how they use humor and humming from the back-up vocalist to make a nice harmony! Go Wombats! Brit Pop is the best

I enjoy their singles and a few album tracks here but the rest I find nothing but irritating.

I have dibs on it. 'Tokyo' is soooo good & Jump Into The Fog is pretty good too. Album can't bomb just because Tokyo is on it.

If only your Editors review had been in English.

And our Foals reviews complemented each other well I thought.

French summary = DaveyBoy stumped. I still think that is one of my better reviews though, and complimented your "safer" version well. Foals was rushed, I have no problem saying that in hindsight.

Well tbh you pretty much gave a God-awful album a 2 so yeah "safer". I look forward to reading your review and crying quietly in a corner when I submit my sub-par version.

The addictivness of how catchy this album is a little ridiculous.
