The rating was given over a year ago.

And the live version in the film wasn't that great. In my not-highly-regarded opinion, Stairway is too delicate to be perfected live.

I gave it a 5 only because of the immersion No Quarter gets me in. The ambiance is intense, end of story. It's by far my favourite spacey performence; it overweights the seemingly never ending Dazed and Confused versions. This Message Edited On 09.06.06

Dazed and Confused can be...quite tedious, to say the least.

This is the only zeppelin album I don't have. Is this worth buying if I have how the west was won?

The solo in stairway to heaven is definitely a shining moment on this album but to me, the original solo from no quarter (not the dumbed down version on later releases of this album) may just be the greatest guitar solo ever played. Ever. It is Pages crown jewel. The emotion that you can hear oozing out of his guitar that night is an absolutely unforgettable moment in the history of music. I urge you to close your eyes and let Page take you to another world. 100/5.

A decent live album by zeppelin although a bit long winded at times kind of on an on just like the movie LOL but great jams overall.

Some of the jam sections are so long I'll forget what I'm listening to until a familiar part suddenly comes on and it's like "oh right I've got Zep on"

Great review! This album is great coverage of a zep live show. Sure there were probably shows where they kicked even more ass. But this is just really, really good. Also the film shows they are definitely totally engorged (?) in their own playing, inspired and true. Anyone who claims this album is weak is merely trying to sound like the expert on zep live music. I have loads of zep bootleg albums. Most don't come close to the overall quality of this collection. The later release "how the west was won" is however the definitive live album imo

Ok, this album is fuckin underrated. First of all, it contains, in my humble opinion, some of the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard, live or not. "Stairway" is fucking sublime and the solo actually surpasses the studio one. Same goes for the "No Quarter" solo. And "Dazed And Confused"? Just unbelievable chemistry and not boring at all (apart from the lengthy bow section). "Whole Lotta Love"? Dat medley though.

The others might not offer completely new angles, but Zeppelin always played a lot with the dynamics and way of playing when on stage (never recreating faithfully the original), so there are quite a few interesting and downright excellent moments to be found throughout.

I might make a review of it, since these two are more than ten years old.

Reading up on all the edits/overdubs on this album makes me cynical of every live album now

Think this is better than How the West Was Won, at least only having heard the latest remasters of both. Like the mixing on here much more, has less wank and rocks harder. Only thing tho, the performances of Black Dog and Over the Hills here are a bit worse than on How the West Was Won

With a way better production, this would be one the best live albums ever.
