yeah, Brother Sister just beats this out, for consistency. Overall, I actually prefer their post-hardcore style, but Brother Sister has just enough mixed with experimental indie, and its their best album overall. But holy fuck is this good, much better than their most recent album.

excellent album but doesn't touch Brother,Sister.

I'm writing a large, important paper for theology that has to relate The Song of Songs to some piece of modern art, so I'm choosing this. Not too many probably know much about The Song of Songs (I didn't), but it's a very unique book in the Bible about love and sex (loosely defined) and Weiss references it tons of times here, even the album title is a direct reference to a line in The Song of Songs.
If any of you consider yourself a good reference on either The Song of Songs or Weiss's lyrics here, help would be greatly greatly appreciated interpreting and connecting some of this!

hahahahahahahahaha i love it
but seriously A to B Life is the most poetic piece of music ever
ever
|

actually I already kinda wrote my essay haha so it's good proggy
and chan solomon didn't actually write the Songs of Solomon (also more appropriately referred to The Song of Songs). I'm not a theology buff by a long stretch but we've been studying it all semester and my professor is a really smart Dutch guy who writes books and shit about it.

True, the central theme of most of Weiss's lyrics tend to be related to religion, even the mention of 'girls and stuff' relates to some type of religiously or philosophically charged theme. Fucking poet

The song I wrote about, "The Soviet," he uses The Song of Songs to cite the love and lust he feels and the dichotomy of how beautiful it is but it can also lead to sin and shit. The "foxes" represent everyday sin, and he's striving to rid that sin from "the vineyard" (love). or something.
