This has become my favourite Oasis record, don't know how they would've topped this really if they hadn't split but still I'd have liked to find out! Shame.
I love the fact that they don't try to re-hash old songs of theirs, trying new things that had begun on 'Don't believe the truth'. It still sounds like Oasis however 'Dig out your soul' has a different groove, a confident swagger that we saw glimpses of on past albums like 'Standing on the shoulder of giants' but this time the writing was a team effort and all the members contributed to a variety of great tunes, leaving less 'filler' than before (a couple of tracks are a little weaker but don't drag the album down much). Highlights have to be Noel's tunes, especially 'Falling down' and Liam's 'I'm outta time' his 'Soldier on' is a superb album and ultimately career closer for Oasis, at least for the time being.

I think when Guigsy and Bonehead left the band it was a big deal. Oasis have done their best with their music since. And I would probably give it a 3.5 Let me say how great the first track is. This Oasis song has that rough sound that characterizes Oasis's later works. Animated vocal performance by Liam Gallagher. Music slightly experimental majorly rocking. Grunge like guitar solo. Quite an intense outro. Perhaps Oasis' Dig Out Your soul is underrated.
