@ Golgoroth
I thought this would be a 4 after the first few tracks, and originally gave it a 4. i believe that to be a reasonable opinion, even though i said this wasnt a 4 in a comment somewhere back there. n yes im with u keech is pretty good

Good review.
Yea no doubt it's generic: however some of the chorus build on some really awesome vocal harmonies that honestly seem.....epic at times.

Is it just me, or does it seem like every new metalcore release comes with a new user? haha...

lol, yup, metalcore releases do that
@ Alex, yes i agree on the buildups etc, but once the song is over im just not feelin it so much, and yea they all follow the same pattern basically
Edit: Before I do get a wave of criticism, I love Haste the Day, and I listen to them more than any other metalcore band. that said, just cuz we all love memphis will be laid to waste, doesnt mean norma jean isnt a pile of steaming ****This Message Edited On 10.11.08

Lol haha. I think the old School Norma Jean was really awesome actually.
I think people should know that the reason that the guitar solos are a lot more simplified is because their original lead guitarist (Jason Barnes) was asked to leave due to his new found belief in atheism =P. Hence, everything is more simplified.

Ha. I was the other way around. After the first few tracks I was like "Ehhh maybe a 3.5..." and then I finished it and it turned out to be way better than I was expecting.

haste the day is seriously like the catchiest fucking metalcore band around.

for sure
everyone else hated it but i think stitches is srsly one of the catchiest songs even remotely related to metal

I actually bought that album for stitches...the rest was kind of poopy though :/ I've tried hard to find songs I like off of this but as from the looks of things I don't think I will :/

It's actually a fun listen for me, but I liked PtH a lot too.
I'm a sucker for well-executed vocal harmonies and catchy breakdowns. Not to mention five worrdssss.

five words is all it takes, dontchano
i think this has a few, mainly the three i threw in there at the end. i still end up listening to a haste the day song or two everyday. as i lay dying used to be where it was at for generic metalcore, but they are getting exponentially better with each release, although 94 Hours is still the best thing they have ever done. This Message Edited On 10.13.08

I mean this isn't a bad album...just I've listened to the whole thing twice and nothing has really jumped out at me yet...maybe I need to just listen to it without multitasking with schoolwork and stuff...
|

94 hours is such a fun song to play on drums, even if it's fairly simple. and yeah pretty much every haste the day album has a ton of catchy songs on it. this album didn't have as many catchy moments though tbh, but had more like.. wow thats surprisingly brutal moments a-la 68.

Guess I'll give this another listen tomorrow and actually pay full attention just to see if I'm missing something...

just make a playlist and throw a song from this in every 5 songs
and yea, 68 was surprisingly brutal, but hearing it a month ago on their myspace gave me a false assumption that this album would be incredible
|
| |
yep same here. i was expecting this to be a heavier record but its the same ol' same ol'. while i love their formula and they make excellent music, its bout time to change it up.
