probably one of the coolest band names

It's been over 5 years since the last comment? Album is seriously underrated.

Damn, 5 years wasted. 65 Doesn't Understand You is one of the best post-rockers out there

One of the great post-rock albums, seriously underrated. I love this band but don't comment often due to the lack of activity, which of course means I'm part of the problem. Deciding between this & TFOM is almost impossible, some days I like this more. I have all their full lengths rated 4+ though, these guys are super consistent.

Yeah, I wonder why these guys got so overlooked by the site. It's not like they're obscure, but you'd expect them to have a lot of crossover appeal with this crowd

I think they must be fairly obscure but in post-rock circles not so much, it's just a genre that doesn't seem to get a huge amount of attention outside of Godspeed & maybe Mogwai/Explosions In the Sky (I've probably missed someone). They're certainly a bit different with all their glitchy electronics & programmed drumming, not to mention their 'EDM-like album'. They should certainly have crossover appeal, part of the reason why I love them so much.

Yeah this album is fucking fantastic

If anyone wants an (almost pristine) copy of this on CD I have a spare, thinking of a mutual swap of some sort? All offers considered. UK only.

I'd totally take you up on that if I didn't already own this

I love this record so much I'm tempted to keep hold of it in case my other copy spontaneously combusts.

Haha, you might as well! Owning two copies of something can be cute (although for me it's only happened with cheap albums I bought online when I assumed that the delivery had failed and reordered). Which parts of this do you dig most?

The opening section of 'Ghosts', 23kid, the build up in Radio Protector, in fact just all of RP. I can't really choose favourite moments though, far too many & they're constantly changing.
I love the atmosphere, the off-kilter glitchy-ness that throws you off but often simultaneously helps build & develop sections into a more typical post-rock crescendo. This band's first 3 records are amongst the most original music I've ever heard, particularly within the often derivative & stagnant post-rock genre. I went through a phase of (perhaps ironically) trying to find similar bands & although a few out there have similar stylistic elements (Maybeshewill perhaps came the closest on one of their records) nothing could match the experience of hearing these guys. Hearing TFOM for the first time was incredible, I had no idea what I was listening to but it sucked me in, surreal but so rewarding.
If I write a review my first will be a 65dos record (from the early-mid era).

On a (somewhat) related point I found a sealed copy of the 'Hole' EP which made me giddy with excitement. I want to open it but at the same time feel I shouldn't. It wasn't even that expensive, bizarre.

After having this band on a to do list for almost TEN years I finally decided to give this a spin and I loved the first listen.

Lol sorry Demon, I totally missed your comments. Sweet find on that EP, hope you're still spinning it and agreed on Maybeshewill being vaguely similar, but not quite the same magic imo
benkim, check their debut asap, that goes hand in hand with this

Oh man, latest reply ever (only joking). I don’t jam much anymore but they’re still going strong. Will definitely check that Benkim then, thanks!

this is still great

Thanks guys for the rec. I'll get right to it as soon as I'm done digesting this one

will check this album out very soon, my first of them. Listened to few parts of every song and it sounds very promising. Also, post-rock & autumn / fall = fits perfectly.
